MZT Skopje dethrones Feni Industri, wins Superleague title - May 2, 2012
Finals, Game 4: Feni Indistrija - MZT Skopje 73-81 (1-4)
MZT Skopje is the new champion of FYROM. They celebrated 73-81 victory in Kavadarci tonight closing the series with almost perfect 1-3. It means that Feni is dethroned after two years. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-73. Serbian guard Igor Mijajlovic (193-84, agency: Global Sports Plaza) fired 21 points for the winners. International center Todor Gecevski (209-77, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. International power forward Kiril Nikolovski (210-88) produced 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Darko Sokolov (190-86) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Feni Indistrija's coach Emil Rajkovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. MZT Skopje was the regular season champion in Superleague with 22-4 record. They eliminated Torus with 3-1 in the Semis and started the Finals with 1-0 lead due to victories in the regular season. It is important to mention that MZT Skopje already for the Cup this year.
MZT Skopje Aerodrom won the first trophy this season. They handed 84-66 loss to Feni Industi in the Big Final of FYR Macedonian Cup. The Final Eight tournament was played at SC Boris Trajkovski in Skopje. Gjorgi Cekovski (203-F/C-79, agency: New Trend Agency) top-scored in victory with 22 points (6 rebs). Igor Mijailovic, agency: BeoExcell) had 18 points and 5 assists, while Noah Dahlman (200-F-89, college: Wofford) added 14 pts and 5 rebs. Experienced Todor Gecevski (209-C-77, agency: Interperformances) also was amazing as he almost registered triple-double: 13 points, 15 rebs and 8 assists. In the loosing squad, Jarrid Frye (194-G/F-85, college: Sacred Heart) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Dusan Knezevic (207-C-80, agency: BeoExcell) (5 rebs) and Marko Simonovski (194-G/F-89, agency: Interperformances) stopped to 10 and 9 points respectively. Quarters: 26-18, 20-16, 21-14, 17-18. MZT Skopje eliminated Vardar in the Quarterfinals 91-79. In the Semis, Gecevski and his teammates outplayed Torus 73-66. MZT Skopje played in the Cup Final last season, but failed to win it. Last time they won it in 2001.
