Austria beats FYROM to win the title at European Championship for Small Countries - Jul 15, 2012

AUSTRIA - FYR MACEDONIA 68-63

Austria is the winner of 2012 European Championship for Small Countries (Division C). They outplayed hosts FYROM 68-63 to take the Gold medal at this event. This is the fourth title for Austria in this competition. Verena Bachler (175-G-88) and Nina Suritsch (189-F/C-84) led the winners with 12 points each. Sophia Plank (178-G/F-83) secured a nice help with 11 points and 6 assists. In the loosing squad, Elena Radenkovic (186-C/F-84, agency: Global Sports Plaza) collected 20 points and 8 rebounds. Monika Gavriloska (190-F/C-76, agency: Global Sports Plaza) had double-double of 18 points and 13 rebs, while Slavica Dimovska (175-G-85) added 12 points and 6 assists. FYROM won the Silver, but they for sure hoped to grab the title at the tournament in Ohrid. It was a very exciting game today as teams were tied at 63-63 with 2:34 to go. Schicher made one free throw for Austria and soon after that Podoschek added two more. The hosts desperately tried to score, but were not able to do it and Podoschek sealed the victory for Austria with two more successful shots from the line. Quarters: 28-16, 12-23, 17-10, 11-14. Malta won the Bronze in Ohrid. They arrived as defending champions.

Shaniece Brown signed for KK Badel, becomes first USA in FYROM womens basketball - 11 minutes ago

KK Badel 1862 Skopje announced today the signing of guard from New York, Shaniece Brown(163-PG) who will be the first American player in the history of Macedonian champion. The 23 year old point guard started her college career at Mohawk Valley (JUCO) and was selected to NJCAA D3 All-America 1st Team in 2013. She then moved to Claflin University (NCAA2) and spent last two years of her college career there. Chrissy Givens joins Avenida - 1 month ago

Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca (LFB) agreed terms with 31-year old FYR Macedonian ex-international small forward Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tennessee State). She is a dual citizen owning also American passport. Givens played last season at Spar Citylift Girona in Spanish LFB league. In 17 games she had very impressive stats: 15.1ppg, 4.9rpg, 3.7apg and 1.7spg. She helped them to make it to the final and cup semifinals. Badel claim Prva Liga title - 2 months ago

Badel celebrated the Prva Liga title. They overcame Klubski in Game 2 of the Finals. Badel enjoyed 1-0 lead heading into the Finals. They earned an 88:66 victory in the championship series. Badel did not slow down in the second game. The defending champions rallied past Klubski on the road to capture the trophy. The victory marked the 12th Prva Liga success for Badel.   [read more]
