Vlado
Ilievski
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Skopje: Rabotnicki (#1) and Vardar (#8). Vardar was defeated at home 73-82 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Rabotnicki had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rabotnicki made 8 blocks. The former international point guard Vlado Ilievski (188-80, agency: BeoBasket) scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian center Nenad Misanovic (217-84) chipped in 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks during the contest. At the losing side Jetmir Zekjiri (200-96) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Vardar's coach Gjorgi Kocov rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rabotnicki maintains first position with 9-1 record, which they share with Feni Industries. Newly promoted Vardar still closes the standings with ten games lost. Rabotnicki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vardar will play on the road against the league's second-placed Feni Industries (#2) in Kavadarci and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Second ranked Feni Industries (9-1) crushed at home 5th ranked Pelister Bitola (4-6) by 37 points 88-51, which is the biggest margin this round. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pelister Bitola. International point guard Andrej Magdevski (192-96) notched 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Jane Petrovski supported him with 11 points and 4 assists. Even 16 points and 6 rebounds by American point guard Phil Hawkins (186-90, college: Texas St.) did not help to save the game for Pelister Bitola. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Feni Industries have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Rabotnicki. Newly promoted Pelister Bitola keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Feni Industries will play against bottom-ranked Vardar (#8) in Skopje in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pelister Bitola will play at home against Kumanovo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

As said before, for Danilo Mijatov...   [read more]
