The first day of the Macedonian Cup 2017 brought us excitement in the field in Kavadarci as nearly all teams fought hard to make it to the semifinals. However, the favorites justified their role in the quarterfinals and moved on to fight for the grand price.

Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje-Vardar Skopje 92-84

The first battle in the quarterfinals gave us a thrilling game as the youngsters Vardar Skopje managed to get back in the game from a huge deficit and arrange us a exciting finish to the game.
Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje started the game dominantly on both sides of the court and just after three minutes in the game they already had a double deficit lead snitching a 13-2 run in the opening minutes of the match. Dragan Nikolic 's men continued their exhibition till the end of the first quarter (30-13), which ended with the awakening of Vojce Levkoski (91) who scored the last four points for Vardar Skopje. The real excitement came in the second quarter as Vardar Skopje managed to keep Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje on only 7 points for almost 5 minutes of the game, in that time scoring perfectly in the attack to cut the lead to single digit (39-31) on the wings of Vojce Levkoski who had 18 points in the first half. However, Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje managed to get together and closed the first half with 9-2 streak to go up to double digit once again (53-37).
Despite the slow start of the second half coming from Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje, Vardar Skopje did not had much of an impact in the opening minutes as the youngsters mainly allowed Sokoli to use their turnovers and score from counterattacks that brought Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje to their biggest margin in the game of 20 points (67-47). The comfort lead once again was blown by Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje as they allowed Vardar Skopje to get back in the game in the second part of the third and the fourth quarter. In the last 10 minutes of the game Vardar Skopje played amazing defense and had a fair of scoring in the attack as minute by minute they managed to cut the deficit. The calm hand of Deji Ibitayo (193-G-93, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) cut the lead to 4 points (86-82) with 27 seconds to go, but Sokoli managed to score 6/6 from the free throw line to seize the victory.
Macedonian national player Bojan Trajkovski (208-F/C-88, agency: Mansfield and Associates) had an amazing day leading Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje with 20 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds, while former national Darko Sokolov (189-G-86) backed his team mate with 18 points.
On the other side of the court, Deji Ibitayo played an all around game managing to grab a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists, while adding 5 rebound, but Vojce Levkoski was the first pointer in the team with 22 points.

KK Feni Industries - KK Ohrid AV 112-69

It was a blowout for the hosts of the tournament as KK Feni Industries stated their role again KK Ohrid AV managing to grab a 43 point win to seize a spot in the semifinals.
The game started as expected. KK Feni Industries played better in both sides of the court and just after 10 minutes of play they've had a decent lead of 24-12. However, on the wings of wonderful Devin Brooks (186-G-92, college: Creighton) the visitors from Ohrid managed to cup the deficit to 8 points (30-28) within the 5 minutes of the second quarter. The real power of KK Feni Industries was jet to be displayed as Ljupcho Malinkov 's men outblasted the visitors in the following minutes scoring 22 points and allowing only 9 in the last 5 minutes of the first half to go up to +21 (52-31) in the halftime break. Even here all the debuts of the game was done. KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje - KK Kumanovo 2009 87-81

The most exciting game was set to be one of the oldest Macedonian derby games. KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje and KK Kumanovo 2009 already played two exciting games this season and split the wins with home court advantage, but this time it was another question, a bigger stake and another thriller.
KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje started the game strongly. Marin Dokuzovski (agency: BeoBasket )'s men scored in their first three shoots outside the 3 point line and made two easy layups to go up by 13 (18-5) with 5 minutes played. KK Kumanovo 2009 was struggling to find their form in the first quarter as KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje took the opening 10 minutes with 24-13. The Macedonian vice champion played better in the second quarter, but did not manage to make a huge impact on the score, as for every KK Kumanovo 2009 brake, KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje had its own. However, KK Kumanovo 2009 managed to stay alive in the game with the points coming from the bench where Nikola Karakolev (197-SG-87) played an determined role.
KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje managed to control the game in start of the second half where in one moment they went ahead by 15 (45-30), but the most exciting part was jet to be reviled. KK Kumanovo 2009 straightened their defense in last minutes of the third quarter and grabbed a 4-0 to close the third quarter (63-51) cutting down to the deficit from the first half, but continuing their best performance in the last 10 minutes of the game. Marjan Janevski (203-F-88) started the last period with a 2+1 and then made a three point. Dimitar Karadzovski (190-G-84, agency: Global Sports Plaza) made a layup and scored a three point, Yonel Brown added a three aswell and in just three and a half minutes in the last period we had a 70-65 lead to KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje. After coach Dokuzovski's timeout KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje played better, went up ahead on a double digit lead, but jet again KK Kumanovo 2009 managed to split the deference to 4 points (79-75) with 1:45 to go. However, the key moment of the game came up in less then a minute as KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje managed to score 4 points in a row with less than a minute left to play and there was no time for KK Kumanovo 2009 to get back in the game.
Nenad Misanovic (217-C-84) is a fellow worth to have underneath the basket as the Serb led KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Captain Dimitar Mirakovski (177-PG-81, agency: Interperformances) jet again showed that age is just a number as he sinked KK Kumanovo 2009 with 19 points, 7 assists and 5 rebound.
KK Kumanovo 2009 had its flows in the game, but another leader of the team was born as the experienced Dimitar Karadzovski led the team with 19 points and 6 assists, while Danilo Mijatovic stopped at 15 points this time.

Defending champion KK MZT Skopje Aerodrom started his journey to another trophy against inform and motivated KK Kozuv Gevgelija who fought hard against a brilliant performance from the ABA League team in the first quarter.
KK Kozuv Gevgelija was nowhere to found in the first 10 minutes of the game, as KK MZT Skopje Aerodrom dominated on both sides of the court. The defending champions started the game with a 15-0 run not allowing the side from Gevgelija to score in the opening 5 minutes of the game coming upfront after 10 minutes by 12 points (23-11). However, it was not all "bread and butter" from the Skopje side as KK Kozuv Gevgelija surprisingly manged to overcome the difficulties quickly and get back in the game in before the half time. The three point shot came in for KK Kozuv Gevgelija as well as a well organized game in the attack and there you had it. KK Kozuv Gevgelija got only down by 1 (36-35) with three minutes to go in the first half.
