Here is the weekly review of the top performing FYR Macedonian players, who play currently abroad.


Romeo Travis

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international power forward Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron, currently plays in France). Travis was the major contributor in a Strasbourg IG's victory against the closely-ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (16-6) 67-58 in the French ProA last Sunday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Travis also added and 3 steals. Strasbourg IG (13-9) is placed sixth in the ProA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Travis' first season with the team. This year he averages: 8.3ppg, 6.1rpg, 2.5apg, 2FGP: 45.3%, 3FGP: 16.7% and FT: 78.6%. Travis is a naturalized American. He is currently a member of the FYR Macedonian senior national team. Strangely Travis has never played in FYR Macedonia.

Pero Antic

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Pero Antic (211-82, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Euroleague). He could not help Fenerbahce (17-9) to beat Baskonia (14-11). Antic recorded 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in only 12 minutes. Fenerbahce lost 74-79 at home to the lower-ranked (#7) Baskonia. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Antic's overall stats are: 4.7ppg, 2.4rpg, 2FGP: 36.0%, 3FGP: 34.4% and FT: 82.1% in 23 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: FYR Macedonian and Bulgarian. Antic played for the FYR Macedonian national team in 2015.

   #3. The FYR Macedonian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Marko Dujkovic (226-90, currently plays in Serbia). He led Metalac to a victory over the closely-ranked Sloga (7-13) 95-83 in the Serbian KLS in Saturday night's game. Dujkovic was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 12 rebounds. Metalac Farmakom Valjevo (10-10) is placed ninth in the KLS. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Dujkovic's total stats this season are: 7.7ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.1bpg, 2FGP: 64.7%(55-85) and FT: 72.9%. He is another player who holds two passports: Bosnia and Herzegovina and FYR Macedonian. Dujkovic is also a member of the FYR Macedonian senior national team.

   #4. Point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Sevilla (7-15) 89-70 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Sunday. He scored 8 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 17 minutes. Herbalife Gran Canaria (15-8) is placed seventh in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. McCalebb has relatively good stats this year: 10.1ppg, 1.9rpg and 3.6apg in 23 games. He is a naturalized American. McCalebb used to play for the FYR Macedonian national team back in 2015. Apparently he has never played in FYR Macedonia.

Former international point guard Marques Green (165-82, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Scandone Avellino to win against the eighth-ranked Grissin Bon RE (11-11) 90-89 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. Green recorded only 2 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Scandone Avellino (14-8) is placed third in the Serie A. Green's total stats this season are: 6.7ppg, 2.5rpg, 4.5apg and 1.5spg. He is a naturalized American. Green used to play for the FYR Macedonian national team seven years ago. Interesting that he has never played in FYR Macedonia.

Power forward Richard Hendrix (203-86, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov, college: Alabama, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Bo McCalebb and both played together in the last Spanish Liga Endesa game. Hendrix contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Sevilla (7-15) 89-70. He scored only 4 points in 8 minutes on the court. This year Hendrix's total stats are: 7.1ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.2apg in 21 games. He is a naturalized American. Hendrix is a former international player as he played for the FYR Macedonian senior team two years ago. However he has never played in FYR Macedonia.

Former international forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, agency: Diamond Sports, college: Kansas St., currently plays in Argentina) contributed to a Libertad Sunchales' victory against the fourth-ranked Instituto (23-18) 86-77 in the Argentinian LigaA last Friday. Massey scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Libertad Sunchales (19-19) is placed seventh in Norte group. This season Massey has relatively solid stats: 12.4ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.6apg and 1.6spg. He is a naturalized American. Massey used to play for the FYR Macedonian national team eight years ago. He played also for KK MZT Skopje Aerodrom in FYR Macedonian league.

   #8. Point guard Aleksandar Kostoski (186-88, currently plays in Romania) was not able to help Pitesti (10-12) in their last game. Despite Kostoski's good performance the sixth-placed Pitesti (10-12) lost 76-86 on their home court in Pitesti to the higher-ranked (#4) Oradea in the Places 1-6 group. He recorded 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 27 minutes. It was Pitesti's third consecutive loss in a row. Kostoski has reliable stats this year: 13.1ppg, 3.1rpg, 5.4apg and 1.3spg in 14 games. He plays currently for the FYR Macedonian national team.

   #9. International guard Vojdan Stojanovski (194-87, also represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Bo McCalebb in the Spanish Liga Endesa last game. Stojanovski was not able to secure a victory for Sevilla (7-15) in their game against Gran Canaria (15-8). He scored 5 points. Sevilla was badly defeated 89-70 on their home court in Sevilla by the much higher-ranked Gran Canaria (#7). It was Sevilla's seventh consecutive loss in a row. Stojanovski averaged so far 12.0ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.3apg. He is also in the roster of the FYR Macedonian national team.

Center Predrag Samardziski (215-86, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in ABA League) helped his Serbian team Mega Leks win their game against the tenth-ranked Karpos Sokoli (10-16) 82-69 in the ABA League last Saturday. Samardziski scored only 3 points in 8 minutes on the court. BC Mega Leks (11-15) is placed sixth in the ABA League. The Regular Season already ended in the ABA League. Samardziski has averaged so far 2.5ppg and 2.0rpg in two games. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the FYR Macedonian senior national team.

   #11. Former international center Oliver Dvojakovski (204-97, currently plays in Spain) helped Betanzos win their game against the 13th-ranked Vigo VGO 79-66 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Sunday night's game. Dvojakovski scored 8 points and had 3 steals in 22 minutes. Dvojakovski has averaged so far 5.0ppg and 4.0rpg in 20 games. He used to play for the FYR Macedonian national team three years ago.


The list of other players, who all have FYR Macedonian passport but never been selected to any of FYR Macedonian national teams:

   #1. Cedi Osman (204-F-95, currently plays in Euroleague) could not help Anadolu Efes (14-12) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Anadolu Efes was badly defeated 87-68 at home by the lower-ranked (#12) Brose Baskets. Osman was the top scorer with 15 points. He also added 7 rebounds in 26 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Osman's fourth season with the team. This year Osman averages: 7.8ppg and 2.9rpg in 26 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: FYR Macedonian and Turkish.

   #2. Dino Radoncic (202-F-99, currently plays in Spain) led Real Madrid II to a victory over the eighth-ranked CBA Gran Canaria B (13-10) 70-51 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Saturday night. Radoncic was the best player in that game. He scored 19 points. Real Madrid II (18-5) is placed third in Group B. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. Radoncic averaged so far 15.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.3apg. He is another player who holds two passports: FYR Macedonian and Montenegrin.

As we come to the end of what was an exciting season in Prva Liga, where after a while 10 teams competed for one single price - the ultimate trophy. For some, the path ended before the Superliga, some where set to capitulise in it, while others were on the verge to reach the finals, but there were only two spots in it. Karpos Sokoli - MZT Skopje 86-78 Kapros Sokoli defeated MZT Skopje to even the championship series at 2-all. Karops Sokoli made their run in second quarter when they outgunned MZT 30-14 and controll the game until the final whistle. MZT Skopje - Karpos Sokoli 86-80 MZT Skopje regained the lead in the championship series. They overcame Karpos Sokoli for 2-1 advantage. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Karpos Sokoli won third quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
