American G-F Chris Hester (192-G-79, college: E.Washington) will continue his basketball career in Finland. Hester and Pyrinto (Tampere) have re-signed for the coming 2009-2010 season and that means Hester will start and play his fourth season in Finland. Last season Hester averaged 17,5 ppg and 5,4 rpg in 46 games. Pasi Pekkola (195-F-81) (6,3 ppg) has re-signed with YMCA Lahti as well as Olli Kaunomaki (195-G/F-86) (1,1 ppg). They maintained the lead and finished the first frame up by 5 points 21:16. Roope Ahonen (186-G-90) and Matias Ojala (196-F-89) put U20 team just 2 points behind but their opponents stayed calm. Vanjoki unloaded two three-pointers midway through the frame as Finnish Universiade team grabbed a 37:29 advantage. They led by 13 points at halftime 48:35. Ville Makalainen opened the third quarter with 7 points in a row to fuel a 9:0 rally that put the Universiade selection up by 22 points. Finland seniors entered the fourth quarter ahead by as many as 22 points. They cruised from that moment claiming an overwhelming victory at the end. Petri Heinonen (207-F/C-88) secured 13 points in the victory. Roope Ahonen responded with 13 points for Finnish U20 team. Matias Ojala delivered 10 points in defeat.
