Huima took a tough victory as they beat PeKa 79-83 in overtime in Kotka today evening. After four quarters the game was tied and the winner was found out in overtime. Both teams started the game lively and scored evenly. Huima managed to take the first quarter eventually 20-22. Same kind of pattern continued in the second period even though the teams didnt score as much points. Huima took the period 13-14 and had 33-36 half-time lead. PeKa won the third quarter by 21-18 and the game was in a toss-up when the last quarter started. In the last period both teams scored as evenly as in the game before. The period was tied 14-14 just like the whole game 68-68. In the half time points were scored by turns. However Huima was just a little bit stronger won it 11-15. Final score was then 79-83 and the third victory led Huima to the finals. Madina Ali (182-F-87, college: W.Virginia) was the star of the night scoring the game highest 24 points and she took 13 rebounds as well. Kenya Robinson (182-C-70, college: New Orleans) also finished 22 points and 12 rebounds while Patrice Holmes (178-G, college: Middle Tenn.St.) scored 11 points and took 11 rebounds. In addition Maiju Bland (178-F-84) netted 12 points. Yolanda Jones (184-F-84, college: La-Lafayette) and Becca Bruszewski (185-F-88, college: Notre Dame) both scored 21 points for PeKa. Reetta Piipari (170-G-80, college: Xavier) backed them up by 10 points. Jones also gathered 14 rebounds.

Amicale inks Jasmine Joyner, ex Kouvot - 6 days ago
Amicale Steinsel (Total League) agreed terms with 22-year old American forward Jasmine Joyner (188-95, college: Chattanooga). She was tested by Kouvot in Finnish SM-sarja, but was not approved after all. Joyner's team won SoCon Tournament for four years in a row (between 2014 and 2017). She was voted All-SoCon 1st Team in 2015, 2016 and 2017 at her college time. American Forward Akilah Sims (178-F-94) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked PeKa, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3. The 23-year old player had a double-double of 40 points and 11 rebounds, while her team outclassed FoA (#6, 1-2) with 26-point margin 93-67. PeKa maintains the 2nd position in Finnish SM-sarja.
