The Regular Season in Korisliiga just started.

Lapua - Pyrinto 79-93

It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Tampereen Pyrinto's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-17 extending their advantage to 14 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Lapuan Korikobrat's 34 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. American forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo, agency: Two Points) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import Lamonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Tampereen Pyrinto's coach Ville Tuominen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international Samuel Haanpaa (203-86) responded with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Chris Commons (206-84, college: USC Aiken) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds.

The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-58. UU-Korihait dominated on the defensive end, holding Forssan Koripojat to just 6 points in fourth quarter. UU-Korihait forced 19 Forssan Koripojat turnovers. Point guard Mikko Jalonen (186-82) fired 25 points and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Chris Taft (208-85, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Sami Ikavalko (188-89) produced 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Andrais Thornton (203-85, college: NW Missouri St.) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. KTP-Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. KTP-Basket forced 19 Kouvot turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Kouvot helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian Sefton Barrett (196-83, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Limelight Hoops) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). American forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four KTP-Basket players scored in double figures.
