Korisliiga, Round 2: FoKoPo (Forssa) and YMCA Lappeenranta needed an OT and then the hosts, FoKoPo players had won by four 102-98 (86) (39-46). American Andrais Thornton (203-F-85, college: NW Missouri St.) was the hero, who pushed FoKoPo into OT by scoring a 2-pointer at 39:49. Then during the extra 5 minutes FoKoPo was leading all the time. Sami Ikavalko (188-G-89), game MVP, made 4/4 FTs during the last 12 seconds and FoKoPo had won the thriller. Ikavalko scored 30 points altogether. Jason Conley (196-G-81, agency: Warren Sports International, college: Missouri) led YMCA LPR with 28 pts.
At Salo local Vilpas beat Korikobrat (Lapua) 94-80 (47-29) thanks to the excellent second quarter (28-10). Marquis Hall (183-PG-87, college: Lehigh) scored 31 pta for the hosts. Young Ilmari Kallio (187-G-92) netted his personal best 14 pts. B.J. Holmes (180-PG-88, college: Texas A&M) led Lapua with 22 pts.
Another OT game of tonight was the TV-game Kouvot (Kouvola) vs YMCA Lahti. Kouvot won by four 101-97 (89) (48-44). It was Louis Johnson (206-F/C-86, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management, college: W.Illinois) (YMCA Lahti) who tied the game at the buzzer, but Antto Nikkarinen (185-PG-91) (Kouvot) led the hosts to the season opening victory. Chris Hester (192-G/F-79, college: E.Washington) led Kouvot with a double-double 25pts/13rbs. Nikkarinen added 21pts and gave six assists. Roope Suonio (176-PG-82) scored 21 pts for YMCA Lahti. Johnson added 20 pts.

In Division 1 A Ura Basket (Kaarina) lost at home vs YMCA Oulu 83-97 (43-45). Nolan Richardson led Ura Basket with 23 pts. Bobby Nash added 20 pts. YMCA Oulu got 27pts/13rbs from Dwight Coleman. Josh Nofflet scored 22 pts and grabbed 10 rbs. Frederick Russell had 19 pts.

Nift Al-Janoub inks Jahsha Bluntt, ex Quimper UJAP - 23 hours ago
Nift Al-Janoub (Superleague) signed 33-year old American guard Jahsha Bluntt (198-100kg-84, college: Delaware State). The last season Bluntt played at Quimper UJAP in French NM1 where in 42 games he had 12.3ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.7apg. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. 31-year old Brian Asbury (201-SF-86) had a very impressive game in the last round for Pyrinto and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5. He had a double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Helsinki Seagulls (#2, 4-2) 78-69. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Korisliiga Round 5: Tampereen Pyrinto defeat Helsinki Seagulls - 2 days ago
This is still too early stage of the Regular Season in Korisliiga and we should expect many changes in upcoming rounds. The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Helsinki Seagulls (4-2) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (3-2) 78-69.
