Kataja - Korihait 95-78

The game was mostly controlled by Joensuun Kataja. UU-Korihait was better in third quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Joensuun Kataja players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international Sami Lehtoranta (205-79) notched 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and international point guard Petri Virtanen (183-80) supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Joensuun Kataja's coach Jukka Toijala allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Pyry Rainamaa (194-90) did not help to save the game for UU-Korihait. American guard Daniel Horton (191-84, college: Michigan, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 21 points for the guests.

The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 33-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American forward J'Nathan Bullock (196-87, college: Cleveland St., agency: Pro One Sports) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Ilkka Vuori (181-86) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Kauhajoen Karhu players scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu's coach Ari Tammivaara used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Ryan McDade (201-80, college: N.Arizona) scored 8 points and 23 rebounds.

Eldar Skamo
Skamo re-signs at BC Nokia - May 20, 2016

BC Nokia (Korisliiga) confirmed in their roster 30-year old forward Eldar Skamo (198-91kg-86). He has played there for the last two seasons. In 45 Korisliiga games he recorded 9.8ppg, 3.7rpg and 2.4apg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Skamo won Finnish 1st Division Division A championship title in 2015.
