Sami Syrjala
Experienced Sami Syrjala (197-F-81) had a great game in the last round for league's leader KaU Koris and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com 1st Division Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 31-year old forward had a double-double of 25 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team crushed BC Jyvaskyla (#8, 2-8) with 18-point margin 76-58. It allowed KaU Koris to jump to the first place in the Finnish 1st Division. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. KaU Koris has a very solid 7-3 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. It's Syrjala's second year at KaU Koris and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Syrjala has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 12.9rpg) and averages solid 59.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 38-year old American forward HL Coleman (202-F-74) of ToPo. Coleman impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds. Of course he lead ToPo to another comfortable win outscoring Ura Basket (#9, 0-8) 107-63. This victory allowed ToPo to move up to 3rd position in group A. His team's 5-3 record is not bad at all. Coleman is a newcomer at ToPo and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Russell Frederick (185-PG-88) of Oulun NMKY (#5). Frederick showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, ten rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Oulun NMKY, leading his team to a 94-77 easy win against slightly lower-ranked SayRi (#7, 3-5). Oulun NMKY needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in group A. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 3 lost games. Frederick has a very solid season. In 7 games in Finland he scored 16.3ppg. He also has 6.9rpg, 3.7apg and FGP: 51.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Brian Moultrie (198-C/F-87) of BC Nokia - 22 points, 17 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Joni Herrala (190-G-94) of HBA-Marsky - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists
6. Andre Stephens (202-F-87) of Huima - 27 points and 12 rebounds
7. Pierre Jallow (203-F/C-79) of Jarvenpaa - 19 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Marcus Capers (193-G-89) of ToPo - 18 points and 13 rebounds
9. Sakari Salminen (200-F-87) of TuNMKY - 25 points and 14 rebounds
10. Arsene Towa (191-F-81) of Kerava ET - 23 points and 12 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
