Coincidentally all hosts won their games.

Bottom-ranked Lapuan Korikobrat managed to get a third victory, breaking the six-game losing streak on Wednesday night. This time newly promoted Lapuan Korikobrat won against eighth-ranked Salon Vilpas 88-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Salon Vilpas. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-20. But Salon Vilpas won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was the former international Samuel Haanpaa (203-86) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. American forward Trey Hampton (203-87, college: Georgia St., agency: TSS Management) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Lapuan Korikobrat's coach Nenad Stefanovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Shawn Atupem (200-89, college: Mt.St.Mary's) produced 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) for the guests. Lapuan Korikobrat (3-10) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with FoKoPo. Salon Vilpas at the other side keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Lapuan Korikobrat is looking forward to face Forssan Koripojat (#10) on the road in the next round. Salon Vilpas will play against KTP-Basket in Kotka and is hoping to win this game.

American Lamonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Carl Lindbom contributed with 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jordan Hasquet (206-85, college: Montana, agency: Dynamics Global Management) replied with 22 points for Namika Lahti. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tampereen Pyrinto maintains first position with 11-2 record. Namika Lahti at the other side keeps the ninth place with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Defending champion maintains second position with 10-3 record behind leader Pyrinto. Loser Kauhajoen Karhu keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with LrNMKY. Loimaan Korikonkarit will meet Kouvot (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against Joensuun Kataja and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 14 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Korihait was crushed by LrNMKY in Lappeenranta 90-59. LrNMKY beat FoKoPo at home 93-87. Kouvot lost to Namika Lahti on the opponent's court 68-78.


LrNMKY - Korihait 90-59

There was no surprise in Lappeenranta where 11th ranked UU-Korihait (3-11) was crushed by sixth ranked LrNMKY (8-5) 90-59 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by LrNMKY. UU-Korihait managed to win third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding UU-Korihait to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded UU-Korihait 43-29 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. LrNMKY looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by UU-Korihait's players. American guard Jason Conley (196-81, college: Missouri, agency: Warren Sports International) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Matthew Gibson (196-84) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Conley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five LrNMKY players scored in double figures. LrNMKY's coach Lassi Tuovi felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Alain Laroche (198-83, college: N.Florida) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and forward Niko Malinen (191-90) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. LrNMKY moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Kauhajoki. Loser UU-Korihait dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Tampereen Pyrinto dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Namika Lahti's 34. Tampereen Pyrinto forced 20 Namika Lahti turnovers. Namika Lahti was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American Lamonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). International forward Carl Lindbom (206-91) contributed with 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Loimaan Korikonkarit forced 24 Kauhajoen Karhu turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Lahti Basketball (1st Division) strengthened their roster with addition of 19-year old swingman Hannes Koskinen (198-98) from KaU Koris Karkkila. Koskinen has played there for the last four years.
