Jason Conley claims Finnish Korisliiga weekly honour - Dec 1, 2012

Experienced American Jason Conley (196-G-81, agency: Warren Sports International) had a great game in the last round for LrNMKY and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 31-year old guard had a double-double of 21 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team outclassed Korihait (#12, 3-11) with 31-point margin 90-59. LrNMKY is placed at 5th position in Finnish Korisliiga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. LrNMKY will need more victories to improve their 8-5 record. In the team's last game Conley had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be LrNMKY's top player in his first season with the team. University of Missouri graduate has very impressive stats this year. Conley is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.6ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 9.0rpg) and averages solid 2.1spg and 54.6% FGP. Worth to mention Conley played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another LrNMKY's star - 28-year old American guard Matthew Gibson (196-G-84). Gibson impressed basketball fans with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. It was enough for LrNMKY to edge the lower-ranked FoKoPo (#10, 3-10) by 6 points 93-87. This victory allowed LrNMKY to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 8-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Gibson is a newcomer at LrNMKY and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.3ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 4.6rpg and 4.2apg.

The third best performed player last round was former international guard Samuel Haanpaa (203-SG-86) of Lapua (#11). Haanpaa got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds . He was a key player of Lapua, leading his team to a 88-81 win against the higher-ranked Salon Vilpas (#8, 5-8). Lapua can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-10 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Haanpaa he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Haanpaa has individually a great season in Finland. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.9ppg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lamonte Ulmer (198-SF-86) of Pyrinto - 23 points and 9 rebounds
5. Martin Zeno (196-G-85) of Nilan Bisons - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists
6. Shawn Atupem (200-F-89) of Salon Vilpas - 28 points and 5 rebounds
7. Jason Conley (196-G-81) of LrNMKY - 26 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Jordan Hasquet (206-F-85) of Namika Lahti - 11 points and 11 rebounds
9. Carl Lindbom (206-F-91) of Pyrinto - 22 points and 8 rebounds
10. Olli Ahvenniemi (207-C-83) of Pyrinto - 10 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
