Division 1A, round 12: YMCA Oulu came to Southern part of Finland by plane with 5-5 record, but left with 7-5 record after beating on Saturday Honka in Espoo 92-99 after OT and defeating today Tarmo in Porvoo 82-89 (42-43). There were 14 lead changes and six ties before Tarmo (10-2) had suffered the first home loss this season. YMCA Oulu has caused Tarmo's both losses by now. All five Oulu starters were between 22-12 points. Dwight Coleman (203-F/G-84, college: Dallas Baptist) led YMCA Oulu with 22 pts. Jari Vanttaja (209-F/C-86, college: Baylor) and Josh Nofflet (194-G/F-88, college: Lee) both added 17 pts. Oulu made 12 three pointers out of 22 shots (55%). Isaiah Tate (192-G-89, college: George Mason) was Tarmo's leading scorer (25 pts).
Honka (Tapiola) lost then even today, when visitor Riento from Saynatsalo won in Espoo 87-95 (41-52). SayRi had seven players hitting at least once from behind the arc (11/18, 61%)! Nicholas Pederson (203-F-85) led Riento (4-7) with 26 pts. CJ Collins netted 19 pts. Ronnie Clark (195-F/G-81) led Honka (7-5) with 24 pts. Huima (Aanekoski) crushed Pyrinto II (Tampere) 102-85 (45-34). Andre Stephens (202-F-87, college: S.Mississippi) had a double-double 33pts/14rbs and DeAndre Mays (188-G-87, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov, college: Youngstown St.) added 31 pts for the hosts. In Helsinki Torpan Pojat (8-4) defeated in the thriller BC Nokia 82-80 (45-43). Tuukka Kulha (193-F/G-85) (ToPo) made both FTs with 15 seconds to go and saved ToPo into a sweet victory. HL Coleman (202-F-74, college: Wyoming) led ToPo with 19 pts. Brian Moultrie (198-C/F-87, college: Armstr.Atlantic) (BC Nokia) had again a double-double 19pts/20rbs.

25-year old shooting guard Rion Brown (198-SG-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Kataja Basket and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 38. He had the game-high 27 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for Kataja Basket in his team's victory, helping them to outclass KTP Basket (#8, 13-22) with 31-point margin 97-66. There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in Korisliiga. The most important game in the last round took place in Joensuu between third ranked Joensuun Kataja (24-10) and fourth ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (21-14) on Friday night. PuHu Juniorit - TuNMKY 82-74 PuHu Juniorit outgunned TuNMKY and clinched Division B title. TuNMKY trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 24-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 74-82 at the end of the game.
