We bring you last week's top performances from Finns who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Gerald Lee
Gerald Lee
#1. This week's number one is an international center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU, currently plays in Adriatic League). He led his Montenegrin team Buducnost to a victory over the closely-ranked Zvezda (7-5) 72-63 in the Adriatic League in Saturday night's game. Lee was MVP of the game. He scored 22 points in 22 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Lee's third season in pro basketball. KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica (7-5) is placed fourth in the Adriatic League. It's Lee's first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season: 12.6ppg, 4.3rpg, 2FGP: 62.0%(62-100) and FT: 58.7% in the 12 games he played so far. Lee is a naturalized American. He is currently a member of the Finnish senior national team. Strangely Lee has never played in Finland.

Ville Kaunisto
Ville Kaunisto
#2. Second place goes to an international forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82, currently plays in France). He was the main contributor in Blois' victory against the closely-ranked Cognac (9-3) 96-80 in the French NM1 (third division) last Tuesday. Kaunisto was the best player in that game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points and getting 17 rebounds. ADA Blois Basket (7-4) is placed sixth in the NM1. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Kaunisto is currently first on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Kaunisto averages: 18.5ppg, 11.8rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 57.8%(67-116), 3FGP: 20.6% and FT: 64.0%. He is in the roster of the Finnish senior national team.

Sasu Salin
Sasu Salin
#3. The Finnish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Sasu Salin (192-91, currently plays in Euroleague). Salin contributed to a 2-point Un.Olimpija's victory against the third-ranked Khimky (5-4) 74-72 in the Euroleague on Friday night. He scored 11 points in 26 minutes. Union Olimpija Ljubljana (3-6) is placed fifth in group A. Salin's team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This year Salin's overall stats are: 7.1ppg, 2.9rpg, 2FGP: 57.1%, 3FGP: 34.2% in the eight games. He is also a member of the Finnish senior national team.

Roope Ahonen
Roope Ahonen
#4. Guard Roope Ahonen (186-90, agency: FCM, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to a Solna Vikings' victory against the closely-ranked 08 Stockholm (8-7) 93-79 in the Swedish Basketligan in Tuesday night's game. Ahonen recorded 14 points and added 7 passes. Solna Vikings (9-7) is placed fifth in the Basketligan. It's Ahonen's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 1.9rpg and 3.9apg. Ahonen is also Finnish national team player.

Teemu Rannikko
Teemu Rannikko
#5. International point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Sasu Salin and both played together in the last Euroleague game. Rannikko managed to help Union Olimpija Ljubljana in a 2-point victoryagainst the third-ranked Khimky (5-4) 74-72. He scored only 2 points in 5 minutes on the court. This year Rannikko's total stats are: 2.8ppg and 2.2apg in the nine games. He plays currently for the Finnish national team.

Tuukka Kotti
Tuukka Kotti
#6. Power forward Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA could not help Vanoli Cremona (3-8) to beat Montepaschi Siena (9-2). Kotti scored 6 points. Vanoli Cremona was defeated 81-68 on the road by the much higher-ranked Montepaschi Siena (#3). Kotti has averaged so far 7.2ppg and 7.0rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Finnish National Team roster.

Shawn Huff
Shawn Huff
#7. International small forward Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in Italy) is a teammate of previously mentioned Tuukka Kotti and both played together in the last Italian SerieA game. Huff was not able to help Vanoli Cremona (3-8) in their game against Montepaschi Siena (9-2). He cannot count it as his best performance. Huff scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes. Vanoli Cremona lost 68-81 in Siena to the much higher-ranked (#3) Montepaschi. Huff has averaged so far 4.7ppg and 4.1rpg in the 11 games. He is also Finnish national team player.

Alex Murphy
Alex Murphy
#8. Forward Alex Murphy (203-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Duke win their game against the Temple University crushing them 90-67 in the NCAA last Saturday. Murphy scored 5 points. The Duke University has conference record this season. Murphy has averaged so far 4.7ppg and 4.1rpg. He is a naturalized American. Murphy plays currently for the Finnish U20 national team. Apparently he has never played in Finland.

Joonas Caven
Joonas Caven
#9. U20 international power forward Joonas Caven (211-93, currently plays in Spain) helped Prat Juventud win their game against the closely-ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (4-4) 69-61 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) on Saturday night. Caven scored 5 points in 16 minutes. CB Prat Juventud (5-4) is placed fifth in the LEB Silver. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Caven has averaged so far 7.0ppg and 2.8rpg in the eight games. He is also in the roster of the Finnish U20 national team.

Lauri Toivonen
Lauri Toivonen
#10. Forward Lauri Toivonen (201-91, currently studies in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the UTPA in their game against the Texas State University at San Marcos (0-0) in the NCAA. Toivonen cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The UTPA was defeated 73-58 in San Marcos, TX by the Texas State University at San Marcos. Toivonen has averaged so far 7.0ppg and 2.8rpg. He is university international player as one years ago he still played for the Finnish national team.

#11. U20 international forward Kilian Cato (201-92, is currently at the American university) helped Maine win their game against the Fisher College crushing them 97-42 in the NCAA on Thursday night. He recorded only 2 points. This season Cato averages just 1.0ppg. He plays currently for the Finnish U20 national team.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Finnish passport:

#1. Kristjan Rinaldo (195-G/F-91, currently plays in Estonia) managed to help TTU Korvpalliklubi Tallinn in a 1-point victoryagainst the closely-ranked KK Parnu (3-7) 75-74 in the Estonian KML last Tuesday. Rinaldo recorded only 2 points in 3 minutes on the court. TTU Korvpalliklubi Tallinn (6-5) is placed fourth in the KML. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Rinaldo averages just 1.0ppg in the two games he played so far.
