Here is the weekly review of the top performing Finnish players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88, currently plays in Euroleague). He managed to help BC Khimky Moscow Region in a victory against the seventh-ranked Besiktas (0-1) 80-75 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Koponen recorded only 2 points in 14 minutes on the court. BC Khimky Moscow Region (1-0) is placed fourth in group F. This year Koponen averages: 5.0ppg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 47.1%, 3FGP: 31.6% in the eight games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA. Kotti could not help Vanoli Cremona (4-9) to beat Cimberio Varese (12-1). He did not impress in that game on Sunday. Kotti recorded only 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Vanoli Cremona was defeated 94-84 on the road by the leading Cimberio Varese. Kotti's overall stats this season are: 6.1ppg, 6.3rpg, 2FGP: 65.1%(28-43). He is in the roster of the Finnish senior national team.

   #3. The Finnish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Roope Ahonen (186-90, agency: FCM, currently plays in Sweden). Ahonen contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked White Eagles (4-15) crushing them 99-66 in the Swedish Basketligan on Friday night. He recorded 8 points in 24 minutes. Solna Vikings (12-7) is placed fourth in the Basketligan. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Ahonen has relatively good stats this year: 10.8ppg, 1.9rpg, 3.8apg, 2FGP: 51.3%, 3FGP: 37.9% and FT: 91.4%(53-58) in the 19 games. He is also a member of the Finnish senior national team.

Lauri Toivonen
   #4. Forward Lauri Toivonen (201-91, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the UTPA in their game against the Oregon State University (0-0) in the NCAA. Toivonen scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The UTPA was crushed 84-59 in Corvallis, OR by the Oregon State University. This season Toivonen has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 1.9rpg and 3.8apg. He used to play for the Finnish university national team back in 2011.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Finnish passport:

   #1. Kristjan Rinaldo (195-G/F-91, currently plays in Estonia), who plays in the Estonian KML could not help one of league's weakest teams TTU (6-7) to beat Rapla (6-7). Rinaldo did not have that impressive stats last Friday. He scored only 3 points in 15 minutes. TTU lost 74-87 at home to the higher-ranked (#5) Rapla. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Rinaldo averages just 1.7ppg in the three games he played so far.

Salon Vilpas Vikings (Korisliiga) strengthened their roster with addition of 27-year old forward Matias Ojala (197-90kg-89). He played most recently at Bisons Loimaa (Korisliiga). In 30 games he recorded 6.4ppg and 3.2rpg last season. Ojala also played 17 games in VTB United League where he averaged 3.1ppg and 1.7rpg. The previous (14-15) season he played at Namika Lahti. UU-Korihait Uusikaupunki (1st Division) re-signed 30-year old American swingman Reginald Bratton (193-86, college: Lenoir-Rhyne, agency: Blacktop Management). He was a team leader there last season. In 25 1st Division games he averaged impressive 19.3ppg, 7.5rpg, 3.4apg and 2.3spg (in top 5). He helped them to win the league title. UU-Korihait Uusikaupunki (1st Division) confirmed in their roster 29-year old American power forward Marcus Van (201-100kg-87, college: Cent.Michigan). He has played there for the last two seasons. In 27 1st Division games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.3ppg, 14.2rpg (leader !!!), 1.8apg and 1.6bpg last season. He helped them to win the league title.
