Korisliiga, round 22: Top League has become very interesting, when half of the regular season is over and the other 22 rounds will be left. Three top teams Pyrinto (Tampere), Bisons (Loimaa) and Kataja (Joensuu) are on the top with 17-5 record each. And on the bottom there is also a big fight going on as no team wants to be the worst and play next season one level lower. There were three thrillers tonight. YMCA Lappeenranta won at home vs Karhu (Kauhajoki) by one 78-77 (40-30), Vilpas (Salo) lost by four vs Pyrinto 70-74 (39-38) and YMCA Lahti won finally, when defeating UU-Korihait from Uusikaupunki by five 90-85 (40-46). Korikobrat (Lapua) lost by 14 pts vs Kataja 75-89 (36-39) and FoKoPo (Forssa) got also tired during the second half, when visitor Kouvot (Kouvola) won by 15 pts 69-84 (40-33).
The "beast" of tonight was Karhu's J'Nathan Bullock (196-F-87, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Cleveland St.), who scored 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but even that was not enough. Team mate Tremaine Ford (206-F/C-86, college: CS Northridge) played only 4:47 minutes and got injured (ankle). At Salo Troy Barnies (200-F-89, college: Maine) had his best game on Vilpas roster in Finland, but his 31pts/13rbs was not quite enough either for the victory.
Vilpas - Pyrinto 70-74 (39-38). (Troy Barnies 31/13, Jukka Kataja 12, Shawn Atupem 6 - Damon Williams 20/10, Antero Lehto 19, Carl Lindbom 12. A: 960).
YMCA LPR - Karhu 78-77 (40-30). (Greg Logins 22/8, Matt Gibson 20, Jason Conley 14/9/6a - J'Nathan Bullock 34/11, Giordan Watson 14, Jussi Eskola 11).
YMCA Lahti - Korihait 90-85 (40-46). (Cedric Latimer 18, Louis Johnson 17/11, Thomas Kelley 16 - Mikko Jalonen 24, Villematti Kopio 20/5a, T.J.Robinson 11/7. A: 543).
Lapua - Kataja 75-89 (36-39). (Samuel Haanpaa 22, Trey Hampton 16, Dominique Coleman 15/6 - Jonte Flowers 21, Dan Coleman 18, Johnell Smith 14/9/11a. A: 343).
FoKoPo - Kouvot 69-84 (40-33). (Jahmar Thorpe 21, Markus Molenius 17/9, Charlie Burgess 13/15 - Antto Nikkarinen 23, Gilberto Clavell 21713, Lamarr Greer 14. A: 337).

Korisliiga Round 37: Joensuun Kataja beat Helsinki Seagulls in the most crucial game of the week - 4 days ago
There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Korisliiga. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Joensuu. Third ranked Joensuun Kataja faced their biggest opponent Helsinki Seagulls. Host Joensuun Kataja (23-9) smashed guests from Helsinki (24-10) 82-53. The game without a history. Joensuun Kataja led from the firs...   [read more]
