Pierre
Jallow
Gambian power forward Pierre Jallow (203-F/C-79) put on an amazing game in the last round for Jarvenpaa, receiving a Eurobasket.com 1st Division Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 33-year old player had a double-double of 26 points and 18 rebounds, while his team edged out BC Jyvaskyla (#6, 6-12) 79-78. Jarvenpaa maintains the 3rd position in Finnish 1st Division. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Jarvenpaa will need more victories to improve their 11-6 record. It's Jallow's second year at Jarvenpaa and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Pierre Jallow averages this season 23.0ppg and 15.3rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 32-year old Cameroonian Rudolf Mua (201-F/C-80) of league's leader Kerava ET. Mua had a very good evening with a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he lead Kerava ET to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked HBA-Marsky (#5, 8-8) 102-81. This victory allowed Kerava ET to move up to 1st position in group B. His team has currently 12-5 record. Mua is well-known at Kerava ET and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.7ppg (#9). He also registered 9.4 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Antonio Hester (198-F) of TuNMKY (#4). Hester scored 20 points and grabbed twenty six rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of TuNMKY, leading his team to a 84-77 win against #2 ranked KaU Koris in a game of the week. TuNMKY needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in group B. Their record at this point is 10 victories and 6 lost games. Hester has a very solid season. In 2 games in Finland he scored 16.5ppg. Hester attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nolan Richardson (188-G-84) of Ura Basket - 35 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Marcus Capers (193-G-89) of ToPo - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Paul Harrison (203-C-89) of Ura Basket - 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists

8. Arsene Towa (191-F-81) of Kerava ET - 18 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Ronnie Clark (195-F/G-81) of Tapiolan Honka - 20 points and 9 rebounds
10. Joni Harjula (189-G-83) of Pyrinto II - 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Petteri Koponen selected the top Finn playing abroad in last week's games - 1 day ago
Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Finns who are currently playing abroad. This week's number one is an international point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88). He could not help FC Barcelona (7-10) in their last game. Despite Koponen's very good performance the 12th-placed FC Barcelona (7-10) was edged 69-67 at home by the much higher-ranked (#3) Olympiacos in the group A of Euroleague.    [read more]
