We bring you last week's top performances from Finns who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international center Taru Tuukkanen (190-77, agency: Regeneracom Sports, college: Xavier, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LFB. She could not help Caja Rural (6-5) in their last game. Despite Tuukkanen's good performance Caja Rural lost 66-71 at home to the leading Rivas Ecopolis. She scored 13 points in 30 minutes on the court. Tuukkanen has relatively good stats this year: 13.7ppg, 5.8rpg, 2FGP: 47.5% and FT: 83.0% in the 11 games she played so far. She is currently a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Dionne Pounds (174-84, also represented by Regeneracom Sports, college: Lamar, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Taru Tuukkanen and both played together in the last Spanish LFB game. Pounds, who plays in the Spanish LFB. She was not able to help Caja Rural (6-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Pounds' good performance Caja Rural was defeated 71-66 on their home court in Zamora by the leading Rivas Ecopolis. She scored 11 points. It's Pounds' first season with the team. This year Pounds has relatively solid stats: 10.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 2FGP: 42.9%, 3FGP: 43.9% and FT: 78.9%. She is in the roster of the Finnish senior national team.

   #3. The Finnish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international swingman Heta Korpivaara (186-84, another player represented by Regeneracom Sports, college: Seton Hall, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German DBBL. Korpivaara was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Heli Girls (9-3) in their last game. Despite her good performance Heli Girls lost 58-65 on the road to the second-ranked SV Halle Lions. Korpivaara was the second best scorer with 13 points. She also added 5 rebounds in 31 minutes. Korpivaara belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #5 with 17.5ppg. This year her other stats are: 5.3rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 51.4%, 3FGP: 21.1% and FT: 92.6%(50-54) in the 12 games. Korpivaara is also a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #4. Swingman Tiina Sten (189-85, another player represented by Regeneracom Sports, college: St.John's, currently plays in Germany) managed to help TSV 1880 Wasserburg to win against the seventh-ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (6-6) 71-58 in the German DBBL in Sunday night's game. She scored 5 points. TSV 1880 Wasserburg (10-2) is placed first in the DBBL. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season Sten averages: 7.7ppg and 3.1rpg. She is also Finnish national team player.

   #5. Former U18 international guard Rita Haukkovaara (175-92, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help Kvarnby (6-10) in their game against Visby Ladies (4-12) in the Swedish Damligan. Haukkovaara scored only 4 points in 18 minutes. Kvarnby lost 64-69 on their home court in Kvarnby to the lower-ranked (#10) Visby Ladies. It was Kvarnby's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Haukkovaara averages just 2.1ppg in the eight games. She used to play for the Finnish U18 national team three years ago.

   #6. Guard Janika Sundstrom (175-87, currently plays in Sweden) is a teammate of previously mentioned Rita Haukkovaara. But that was another game of her team in Swedish Damligan which we would like to mention. Sundstrom couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Kvarnby (6-10) in their game against Norrkoping Dolphins (12-8). She did not beat the league record on Wednesday evening. Sundstrom recorded only 2 points. Kvarnby was badly defeated 85-66 in Norrkoping by the higher-ranked Dolphins (#6). Sundstrom's overall stats this season are: 2.4ppg and 1.5rpg. She is a former U20 international player as she played for the Finnish team seven years ago.

Espoo Basket Team (SM-sarja) inked 21-year old shooting guard Lotta Hamalainen (174-96) from Catz. Hamalainen has played there for the last seven years. But in 12 SM-sarja games she averaged just 1.9ppg last season. She helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. Catz Lappeenranta (SM-sarja) confirmed 42-year old coach Mika Haakana.Haakana has coached there for the last eight years. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Haakana won Finnish League championship title in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Kouvottaret (SM-sarja) landed 21-year old forward Iida Ahvenainen (175-96, college: Iona) from PeKa. But in 15 SM-sarja games she averaged just 1.7ppg last season. She helped them to make it to the semifinals. Ahvenainen's team won MAAC Tournament for two years in a row (2016 and 2017).
