We bring you last week's top performances from Finns who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88, currently plays in Euroleague). He led his Russian team Khimky to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Maccabi T-A (1-3) crushing them 88-67 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Koponen recorded 15 points in a mere 19 minutes on the court. BC Khimky Moscow Region (3-1) is placed third in group F. It's Koponen's first season with the team. This year he averages: 5.8ppg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 55.6%(15-27), 3FGP: 33.3% in the 11 games he played so far. Koponen is currently a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Sasu Salin (192-91, currently plays in Adriatic League), who plays in Slovenia. He could not help Un.Olimpija (9-9) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Salin's good performance Un.Olimpija was defeated 73-67 on the road by the higher-ranked Cedevita (#4). He scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Salin is ranked fourth on the list of the most steals in the league. His overall stats this season are: 7.4ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 44.4%, 3FGP: 34.6% and FT: 72.2%. Salin is in the roster of the Finnish senior national team.

   #3. The Finnish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Roope Ahonen (186-90, agency: FCM, currently plays in Sweden). He was the major contributor in a Solna Vikings' victory against the ninth-ranked KFUM Jamtland (6-16) crushing them 85-65 in the Swedish Basketligan on Friday night. Ahonen recorded 17 points and added 6 passes in 23 minutes. Solna Vikings (15-9) is placed fifth in the Basketligan. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Ahonen is currently seventh on the list of best passers with 4.2apg. This year his other stats are: 11.3ppg, 1.8rpg, 2FGP: 48.6%, 3FGP: 36.6% and FT: 93.7%(74-79) in the 24 games. Ahonen is also a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #4. Center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU, currently plays in Eurocup) was not able to help Buducnost (2-1) in their game against Banvit BK (2-1) in the Eurocup. He scored 8 points. The third-placed Buducnost was defeated 89-80 in Balikesir by the second-ranked Banvit BK in the group I of Eurocup. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Top 16. So now every game will be critical. Lee has relatively good stats this season: 10.2ppg and 3.6rpg. He is a naturalized American. Lee is also Finnish national team player. Strangely he has never played in Finland.

U20 international power forward Joonas Caven (211-93, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Prat Juventud (7-6) in their last game. Despite Caven's very good performance Prat Juventud lost 71-79 in Azpeitia to the higher-ranked (#4) Lan Mobel ISB. He was the top scorer with 20 points. Caven also added 4 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in a mere 18 minutes. This year Caven's overall stats are: 8.0ppg and 2.6rpg in the 12 games. He plays currently for the Finnish U20 national team.

   #6. An experienced point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80, currently plays in Adriatic League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Sasu Salin and both played together in the last Adriatic League game. Rannikko couldn't help Un.Olimpija (9-9) in their game against Cedevita (10-8). He did not beat the league record on Saturday evening. Rannikko scored only 2 points and added 4 passes. Un.Olimpija was defeated 73-67 in Zagreb by the higher-ranked Cedevita (#4). Rannikko's total stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 1.1rpg, 3.2apg and 1.1spg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Finnish National Team roster.

   #7. International forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82, currently plays in France), who plays in the French NM1 (third division) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Blois (8-7) in their last game. Despite Kaunisto's very good performance Blois lost 67-75 on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#7) Monaco. He had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 10 rebounds. Kaunisto also added 2 blocks in 28 minutes. It was Blois' third consecutive loss in a row. Kaunisto is ranked second on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has individually a very good year with high stats. Kaunisto averages: 17.7ppg, 11.5rpg and 1.8apg in the 15 games. He is also Finnish national team player.

Emir Sulejmanovic

   #8. Power forward Emir Sulejmanovic (204-95, currently plays in Adriatic League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Sasu Salin. He played also in the last Adriatic League game facing Teemu Rannikko (above) in the other team. Sulejmanovic couldn't help Un.Olimpija (9-9) in their game against Cedevita (10-8). He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Sulejmanovic scored only 2 points. Un.Olimpija was defeated 73-67 in Zagreb by the higher-ranked Cedevita (#4). Sulejmanovic's total stats this season are: 5.0ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.5spg. He used to play for the Finnish U16 national team back in 2011.

   #9. U20 international forward Alex Murphy (203-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Duke University in a victory against the Georgia Tech (0-4) 73-57 in the NCAA on Thursday night. Murphy scored only 2 points in 7 minutes on the court. The Duke University has 3-1 conference record this season. This year Murphy's total stats are: 5.0ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.5spg in the two games. He is a naturalized American. Murphy is also in the roster of the Finnish U20 national team. Apparently he has never played in Finland.

   #10. Forward Lauri Toivonen (201-91, currently studies in the States) contributed to a 2-point UTPA's victory against the Utah Valley University (1-2) 62-60 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Toivonen recorded only 4 points. The University of Texas-Pan American has 2-0 conference record this season. Toivonen has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.5spg. He is a former university international player as two years ago he still played for the Finnish national team.

Kataja Basket - Salon Vilpas 94-65 Kataja Basket celebrated the Korisliiga title. They overcame Salon Vilpas in Game 6 to capture the trophy. Joensuun Kataja led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Joensuun Kataja dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Salon Vilpas' 26. Lahti Basketball (1st Division) landed 33-year old American coach Mike Oppland. He coached most recently in Luxembourg. He worked as an assistant coach with Racing.
