An interesting game for Catz Lappeenranta (19-2) which hosted in Lappeenranta 4th ranked Honka (13-8). First ranked Catz Lappeenranta had an easy win 87-65. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Honka. The game without a history. Catz Lappeenranta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Honka's 40. They outrebounded Honka 48-26 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Catz Lappeenranta made 8 blocks. Russian power forward Jelena Reshetko (184-86) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 18-of-22 shooting from the field). American swingman Alexandria Anderson (185-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Regeneracom Sports) contributed with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Melissa Jeltema (175-88, college: Oakland) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for Honka. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-2 record. Newly promoted Honka keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with ToPo. Catz Lappeenranta are looking forward to face TuRi (#9) in Turku in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Honka will play at home against Torpan Pojat (#5) in Helsinki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Helsinki was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Peli-Karhut (17-4) played at the court of 5th ranked Torpan Pojat (13-8). Peli-Karhut defeated Torpan Pojat 77-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Torpan Pojat. American swingman Korinne Campbell (182-88, college: W.Virginia) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Shenita Landry chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. American center Kenya McBee (192-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Peli-Karhut have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-4 record having just two points less than leader Catz. Torpan Pojat at the other side dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Honka. Peli-Karhut will play against BC Nokia (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Torpan Pojat will play against Honka (#4) in Espoo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 26: HoNsU beat BC Nokia on the road 74-59. Huima lost to TuRi on its own court 65-73. FoA managed to outperform HyPo in Forssa 81-75.


BC Nokia - HoNsU 59-74

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked HoNsU (12-9) beat on the road 10th ranked BC Nokia (3-18) 74-59. It looked good early as BC Nokia took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then HoNsU had a 18-12 second period charge getting the lead and BC Nokia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-74. They outrebounded BC Nokia 48-35 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. HoNsU brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. American guard Brandi Davis (183-83, college: Oregon) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Minna Sten (189-87) chipped in 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks during the contest. Five HoNsU players scored in double figures. American forward Alberta Auguste (180-85, college: Tennessee) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and center Anniina Aijanen (189-95) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. HoNsU maintains sixth position with 12-9 record. BC Nokia lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with 18 games lost. HoNsU will play against Kerava Energia Team (#8) at home in the next round. BC Nokia will play against the league's second-placed Peli-Karhut in Kotka and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Aanekosken (10-11) lost to ninth ranked TuRi (6-15) in Aanekoski 65-73. The game without a history. TuRi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American forward Callan Taylor (182-90, college: Sacred Heart) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian guard Brittany Hedderson (175-90, college: Buffalo) chipped in 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. American swingman Jasmin Holliday (182-90, college: Oregon) responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and her fellow American import center Kenya Robinson (182-70, college: New Orleans) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Newly promoted TuRi maintains ninth position with 6-15 record. Aanekosken lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. TuRi will play against league's leader Catz Lappeenranta at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aanekosken will play against Forssan Alku (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The game in Helsinki was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Peli-Karhut (17-4) played at the court of 5th ranked Torpan Pojat (13-8). Peli-Karhut defeated Torpan Pojat 77-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Torpan Pojat. It looked good early as Torpan Pojat took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Peli-Karhut took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 10 points. They made 20-of-21 charity shots (95.2 percent) during the game. American swingman Korinne Campbell (182-88, college: W.Virginia) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Shenita Landry (188-87, college: Temple) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures.
