   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88, currently plays in VTB United League). He was the major contributor in Khimky's victory against the seventh-ranked BC Donetsk (4-8) 84-66 in the VTB United League in Monday night's game. Koponen scored 9 points in 22 minutes on the court. BC Khimky Moscow Region (9-3) is placed third in group A. It's Koponen's first season with the team. This year he averages: 7.8ppg, 1.3rpg, 2.0apg, 2FGP: 56.7%(17-30), 3FGP: 54.2%(13-24) in the 10 games he played so far. Koponen is currently a member of the Finnish senior national team.

Gerald Lee

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU, currently plays in Adriatic League). He contributed to Buducnost's victory against the ninth-ranked Krka (8-11) 74-66 in the Adriatic League last Saturday. Lee recorded 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica (11-8) is placed fifth in the Adriatic League. Lee has relatively good stats this season: 11.6ppg, 4.2rpg, 2FGP: 61.4%(89-145) and FT: 62.3%. He is a naturalized American. Lee is in the roster of the Finnish senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Finland.

Tuukka Kotti

   #3. The Finnish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA. Kotti could not help Vanoli Cremona (6-11) in their last game. Despite his good performance Vanoli Cremona was edged 74-73 on the road by the higher-ranked (#10) Juvecaserta. Kotti had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds in 28 minutes. This year Kotti's overall stats are: 5.9ppg, 6.1rpg, 2FGP: 60.7%(37-61) and FT: 51.7% in the 15 games. He is also a member of the Finnish senior national team.

Teemu Rannikko

   #4. An experienced point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80, currently plays in Adriatic League) managed to help Union Olimpija Ljubljana to win against the league leader Igokea (15-4) 69-63 in the Adriatic League in Saturday night's game. Rannikko recorded 5 points and added 5 assists. Union Olimpija Ljubljana (10-9) is placed eighth in the Adriatic League. Rannikko belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #7. His total stats this season are: 6.9ppg, 1.1rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg. Rannikko is also Finnish national team player.

   #5. U20 international forward Alex Murphy (203-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Duke (4-2) in their game against the University of Miami, Florida (6-0) in the NCAA, despite his good performance last Wednesday. He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. But the Duke was crushed 90-63 in Miami, FL by the University of Miami, Florida. This year Murphy's total stats are: 6.9ppg, 1.1rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg in the 18 games. He is a naturalized American. Murphy plays currently for the Finnish U20 national team. Apparently he has never played in Finland.

   #6. Guard Roope Ahonen (186-90, agency: FCM, currently plays in Sweden) was not able to secure a victory for Solna Vikings (15-9) in their game against Sundsvall Dragons (21-3) in the Swedish Basketligan. Ahonen scored only 4 points and added 5 assists. Solna Vikings was defeated 101-87 in Sundsvall by the leading Dragons. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. Ahonen is currently seventh on the list of best passers. He has very reliable stats this season: 11.3ppg, 1.8rpg and 4.2apg. Ahonen is an international player who is currently on the senior Finnish National Team roster.

Lauri Toivonen
   #7. Former University international forward Lauri Toivonen (201-91, currently studies in the States) contributed to UTPA's victory against the Oklahoma Panhandle State University (21-3) 76-68 in the NCAA in Tuesday night's game. He scored only 4 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 24 minutes. The University of Texas-Pan American has 2-1 conference record this season. This year Toivonen has relatively solid stats: 11.3ppg, 1.8rpg and 4.2apg in the 24 games. He used to play for the Finnish university national team two years ago.

   #8. Power forward Joonas Caven (211-93, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Prat Juventud's victory against the eighth-ranked Castello (5-8) 67-59 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Saturday. Caven scored only 3 points. CB Prat Juventud (8-6) is placed fourth in the LEB Silver. Caven has averaged so far 7.6ppg and 2.4rpg. He plays currently for the Finnish U20 national team.

KORISLIIGA: UU-Korihait found a new Head Coach - May 24, 2013

UU-Korihait (Uusikaupunki) and Ari Mikkola , 36, have signed the contract model 1+2 years. Mikkola will be Korihait new Head Coach. Mikkola will replace Coach Jarmo Laitinen , 58, who was coaching Korihait only one season. Korihait was # 9 passed season with 13-31 record. Mikkola has played nine years on top level in Finland and has been coaching since year 2007 FoKoPo (as Head Coach and/or assistant coach).
