The most important game in the last round took place in Nokia between third ranked Honka (14-9) and tenth ranked BC Nokia (4-19) on Saturday night. Honka was defeated by BC Nokia on the road 80-67. BC Nokia dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Honka's 38. BC Nokia forced 24 Honka turnovers. Forward Nina Hyvarinen (175-80) fired 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Anniina Aijanen (189-95) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Jordan Murphree (183-87, college: Texas Tech, agency: Merit Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted BC Nokia maintains tenth position with 4-19 record. Honka at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third place with nine games lost. They share the position with FoA and ToPo. BC Nokia are looking forward to face higher ranked TuRi (#9) in Turku in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Honka will play at home against Kerava Energia Team (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Lappeenranta. First ranked Catz Lappeenranta faced 4th ranked Forssan Alku. Host Catz Lappeenranta (21-2) defeated guests from Forssa (14-9) 85-73. Worth to mention a great performance of Russian power forward Jelena Reshetko (184-86) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds. Alexandria Anderson contributed with 8 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Catz Lappeenranta's coach Mika Haakana allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Secily Ray (180-90, college: Wake Forest) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for Forssan Alku. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 21-2 record. Forssan Alku at the other side dropped to the third place with nine games lost. They share the position with ToPo and Honka. Catz Lappeenranta will play against bottom-ranked HyPo (#11) in Hyvinkaa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Forssan Alku will play at home against Torpan Pojat (#5) in Helsinki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Kerava supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Peli-Karhut (19-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Kerava Energia Team (6-16). Peli-Karhut did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 96-76 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Shenita Landry who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Rosetta Adzasu responded with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Peli-Karhut have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-4 record having just two points less than leader Catz. Kerava Energia Team lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 16 games lost. Peli-Karhut will meet at home HoNsU (#6) in the next round. Kerava Energia Team will play against Honka in Espoo and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 28 bottom-ranked HyPo was defeated by Huima in Aanekoski 68-56. ToPo beat TuRi at home 67-54.
The best stats of 28th round was 21 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists by Kenya Robinson of Huima.



Huima - HyPo 68-56

There was no surprise in Aanekoski where 11th ranked HyPo (2-20) was defeated by seventh ranked Aanekosken (12-11) 68-56 on Saturday. HyPo was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-10 charge of Aanekosken, which allowed them to win the game. Aanekosken had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kenya Robinson (182-70, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import swingman Jasmin Holliday (182-90, college: Oregon) who added 20 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Aanekosken players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Phebe Smith (183, college: Columbus St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds and U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Aanekosken maintains seventh position with 12-11 record. HyPo lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 20 lost games. Aanekosken will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. HyPo will play against the league's leader Catz Lappeenranta (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Kerava - PeKa 76-96

The game in Kerava supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Peli-Karhut (19-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Kerava Energia Team (6-16). Peli-Karhut did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 96-76 on Saturday. The game without a history. Peli-Karhut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Peli-Karhut forced 19 Kerava Energia Team turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Shenita Landry (188-87, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Reetta Piipari (170-80, college: Xavier) who added 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. At the losing side Italian-Ghanian guard Rosetta Adzasu (165-90, college: Washington St.) responded with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and American guard Earlysia Marchbanks (180, college: Oregon St., agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. No shocking result in a game in Helsinki where fifth ranked Torpan Pojat (14-9) defeated 9th ranked TuRi (6-17) 67-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Torpan Pojat. TuRi managed to win second period 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kenya McBee (192-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds and Venlakaisa Holtta (177-84) who added 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Canadian guard Brittany Hedderson (175-90, college: Buffalo) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international center Sofia Pelander (188-92) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Torpan Pojat moved-up to third place, which they share with FoA and Honka. Newly promoted TuRi keeps the ninth position with 17 games lost. Torpan Pojat will meet Forssan Alku (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. TuRi will play against BC Nokia (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
