Here is the weekly review of the top performing Finnish players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88, currently plays in VTB United League). He contributed to Khimky's victory against the ninth-ranked Kalev/Cramo (3-12) 65-57 in the VTB United League in Monday night's game. Koponen scored 8 points in 26 minutes on the court. BC Khimky Moscow Region (11-4) is placed second in group A. There are only three games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Koponen averages: 7.2ppg, 1.5rpg, 2.0apg, 2FGP: 57.9%(22-38), 3FGP: 46.7%(14-30) and FT: 88.9% in the 13 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU, currently plays in Adriatic League). Lee contributed to Buducnost's victory against the tenth-ranked HKK Siroki WWin (7-14) 65-57 in the Adriatic League last Saturday. He scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica (13-8) is placed fifth in the Adriatic League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Lee has relatively good stats this season: 11.3ppg, 4.3rpg, 2FGP: 61.0%(97-159) and FT: 62.0%. He is a naturalized American. Lee is in the roster of the Finnish senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Finland.

   #3. The Finnish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Sasu Salin (192-91, currently plays in Adriatic League), who plays in Slovenia. Salin could not help Un.Olimpija (11-10) to beat Szolnok (6-15). He scored 7 points in 30 minutes. Un.Olimpija was badly defeated 89-72 on the road by the league outsider (#14) Szolnok. Salin is ranked fourth on the list of the most steals in the league with 1.8spg. This year his other stats are: 6.9ppg, 3.4rpg, 2FGP: 42.5%, 3FGP: 32.6% and FT: 65.4% in the 20 games. Salin is also a member of the Finnish senior national team.

An experienced point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80, currently plays in Adriatic League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Sasu Salin and both played together in the last Adriatic League game. Rannikko was not able to help Un.Olimpija (11-10) in their game against Szolnok (6-15). He scored 5 points. Un.Olimpija was badly defeated 89-72 on the opponent's court by the league outsider Szolnok (#14). Rannikko's overall stats this season are: 6.9ppg, 1.1rpg and 3.2apg. He is also Finnish national team player.

International guard Roope Ahonen (186-90, agency: FCM, currently plays in Sweden) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Solna Vikings (19-10) in their game against Norrkoping Dolphins (19-9) in the Swedish Basketligan. Ahonen scored 7 points and added 7 assists in 30 minutes. Solna Vikings lost 83-91 in Norrkoping to the higher-ranked (#5) Dolphins. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Ahonen has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 1.7rpg and 4.3apg in the 29 games. He plays currently for the Finnish national team.

   #6. Forward Alex Murphy (203-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Duke (9-3) in their game against the University of Maryland (6-7) in the NCAA. Murphy scored only 4 points. The Duke was edged 83-81 in College Park, MD by the University of Maryland. They ended the series of six consecutive victories. Murphy has reliable stats this season: 11.2ppg, 1.7rpg and 4.3apg. He is a naturalized American. Murphy is U20 international player who is currently on the Finnish National Team roster. Apparently he has never played in Finland.

U20 international power forward Joonas Caven (211-93, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Prat Juventud's victory against the ninth-ranked Cafes Aitona (5-10) 74-67 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Saturday night's game. Caven scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 21 minutes. CB Prat Juventud (10-6) is placed third in the LEB Silver. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Caven's overall stats are: 7.6ppg and 2.5rpg in the 15 games. He is also Finnish U20 national team player.

   #8. Power forward Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Vanoli Cremona (7-12) in their game against Air Avellino (5-14) in the Italian SerieA. Kotti cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 1 points. Vanoli Cremona was defeated 93-81 in Avellino by the one of league's weakest teams Air Avellino (#15). Kotti's total stats this season are: 5.6ppg and 5.9rpg. He plays currently for the Finnish national team.

Former University international forward Lauri Toivonen (201-91, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the UTPA (3-3) in their game against the Houston Baptist University (2-3) in the NCAA. Toivonen scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. The UTPA lost 48-53 at home to the Houston Baptist University. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. It's Toivonen's first season with the team. This year his total stats are: 5.6ppg and 5.9rpg in the 17 games. Toivonen used to play for the Finnish university national team two years ago.

25-year old shooting guard Rion Brown (198-SG-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Kataja Basket and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 38. He had the game-high 27 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for Kataja Basket in his team's victory, helping them to outclass KTP Basket (#8, 13-22) with 31-point margin 97-66. The most important game in the last round took place in Joensuu between third ranked Joensuun Kataja (24-10) and fourth ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (21-14) on Friday night. Joensuun Kataja was defeated by Kauhajoen Karhu at home 78-89. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoen Karhu. Joensuun Kataja managed to win third quarter 24-21. PuHu Juniorit - TuNMKY 82-74 PuHu Juniorit outgunned TuNMKY and clinched Division B title. TuNMKY trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 24-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 74-82 at the end of the game.
