Korisliiga, round 32: Five contests tonight and only one home victory. And that happened at Lappeenranta, where local YMCA beat Kouvot (Kouvola) in TV-game 91-78 (48-39). Top League leading scorer Jason Conley (196-G-81, agency: Warren Sports International, college: Missouri) netted again 30 points (1 - 5/5, 2 - 8/13, 3 - 3/6) and grabbed 12 rebounds. Matthew Gibson (196-G-84) and Greg Logins (200-F-88, college: Canisius) combined 40 pts and that was then already 70/91 pts. Aleksi Akpaso (192-SG-92) led Kouvot (15-17) with 21 pts, which is his season maybe career best on top level. Gilberto Clavell (201-F-89, agency: KMG Sports Management, college: Sam Houston St.) had a double-double 17pts/11rbs, though he fouled out of the game early.
Karhu from Kauhajoki visiting the neighbour town Lapua and defeating Korikobrat the third time this season. This time the difference was only five points: 79-84 (32-40). Karhu lost three players during the game because of five fouls, J'Nathan Bullock was still on injured list, but Karhu was able to win in front of 700 spectators. Lapua's sharpshooter Samuel Haanpaa (203-SG-86) 30pts/12rbs (1 - 7/7, 2 - 7/13, 3 - 3/9) was again too alone, but got anyway some help from Trey Hampton and Dominique Coleman (190-G-84, college: Colorado). Giordan Watson (178-PG-85, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Cent.Michigan) led Karhu with 30 pts (1 - 3/4, 2 - 12/15, 3 - 1/4). Newcomer Haminn Quaintance (201-F-85, college: Kent St.) scored 14 pts in 17:57 minutes.
UU-Korihait (Uusikaupunki) surprised this time by scoring only 61 points at home court. Visitor Vilpas (Salo) made 11 pts more and won 61-72 (29-38). Korihait had only two players over 10 points. Alain Laroche (198-F-83, college: N.Florida) led the hosts with 22 pts. Even Mikko Jalonen (186-PG-82), who is averaging this season 14,9 ppg, had tiny three (3) pts (1 - 0/3, 2 - 0/1, 3 - 1/2) in 36:06 minutes. Shawn Atupem (200-F-89, college: Mt.St.Mary's) led Vilpas (9-23) with 20 pts. FoKoPo (Forssa) upset Pyrinto from Tampere in November 85-78, but this time Pyrinto was controlling the contest especially during the second half: 74-102 (43-44). Andrais Thornton (203-F-85, college: NW Missouri St.) led FoKoPo (7-25) with a double-double 19pts/15rbs. Antero Lehto (184-G-84) and Carl Lindbom (206-F-91) netted both 23 pts for Pyrinto (23-8). And in Lahti local YMCA lost vs Bisons (Loimaa) 69-93 (38-50). Emmanuel Holloway (185-G-86, college: Illinois St.) led YMCA Lahti (7-25) with 18 pts and Ryan McDade (201-F-80, college: N.Arizona) was Bisons (24-7) leading scorer/rebounder: 19/7.
