New year..is it already late February? - Feb 23, 2013

Start of the new year has been OK for us, have had some major setbacks, but over all we are doing OK, our record in 2013 is 5-2. At the moment we are in the 3rd position in our league (four team into play-offs) we do understand that there are 5 teams still in the play offs race. Just beat two of our main contenders Oulu and Nokia, so we are still in control of our destiny, not needing anybodys help.

We have four games remaining, first two tough long away games and then we will finish the regular season against the top two teams ToPo (also away, but that is only 10 minutes trip) and Porvoo.

Kind of a tough schedule for us, but we do like challenges, besides, finally (&hopefully) we have all the guys playing.

Won the Finnish Cup also.

There was one goal for us in the beginning of the season: win the division one and get this great organization back to the league.

That is still the main thing, yes, but the other competition we played at, the Finnish cup was also important for us, played some tough games in the competition, got in to the final and took the cup home.

Have been also working on collecting info about possible candidates for U20 national team and have to say the situationlooks good. For the first time ever (OK, have only had three U20 nation teams before, so cannot say ever..) we have this many good players to choose from. This will be a tough call for me and my fellow coaches: Greg Gibson and Petri Virtanen

And about that U20 assistant coach of mine: Kataja still making noise in Eurochallenge and that tiny scoring machine/U20 national team coach Virtanen is one of the main guys .

What a huge comeback, again for them, beating Gaz Metan 30-13 (?) in the last Q and winning the game by four points. They will play at home, again, this Tuesday and I am (almost) thinking about canceling our team practise just to travel to Joensuu to see their decisive game.

Now gotta go, scouting report waiting,

Moikka

PS respect the game
