Korisliiga, round 33: Well, finally the fourth quarter (the last 11 rounds) will start out of the regular season. Tonight three contests and two of them real thrillers. Vilpas (Salo) was leading 24-13 vs FoKoPo (Forssa) after the first quarter, but FoKoPo won the next three quarters and the game 76-81 (35-32). FoKoPo's Markus Molenius (203-F-92) made a 3-pointer at 39:16 and FoKoPo was leading 74-77. Shawn Atupem (200-F-89, college: Mt.St.Mary's) dunked two points (76-77) for Vilpas at 39:38, but after that it was only visitor's Sami Ikavalko and Andrais Thornton (203-F-85, college: NW Missouri St.) who made their 2/2 FTs and FoKoPo (8-25) had won by five. Charles Burgess (186-PG-84, agency: Two Points, college: Texas Tech) (2009-10 on Vilpas roster, now FoKoPo's PG) scored game high 29 points. Jahmar Thorpe (198-F-84, college: Houston) added 20 pts. Marcus Relphorde (198-F-88, college: Colorado) led again Vilpas (9-24) with 19 pts.
At Kouvola local Kouvot defeated Korikobrat (Lapua) 85-83 (40-49). Gilberto Clavell (201-F-89, agency: KMG Sports Management, college: Sam Houston St.) gave Kouvot a 5-point-lead (85-80) with two FTs made at 39:11. Samuel Haanpaa (203-SG-86) made then his fifth (5/8) 3-pointer in the game (85-83) at 39:18, after that Lapua had two important rebounds plus two missed shots and Kouvot (16-17) had won by two. Clavell had this time 26 pts and Haanpaa again a double-double 28pts/12rbs. Lapua (9-24) won the rebounds 25-44, but had then too many (21) turnovers.
At Loimaa Bisons had certain kind of difficulties vs UU-Korihait (Uusikaupunki), but finally Bisons (25-7) won by 10 pts 89-79 (39-42). Mikko Koivisto (194-G-87, college: NC-Greensboro) led the Bisons with 20 pts. Martin Zeno (196-G-85, college: Texas Tech) had a double-double 18pts/10rbs. Mikko Jalonen (186-PG-82) was back on his own level and scored 17 points for Korihait (11-22).
Vilpas - FoKoPo 76-81 (35-32). (Marcus Relphorde 19; Shawn Atupem 17; Troy Barnies 13 - Charles Burgess 29, Jahmar Thorpe 20, Sami Ikavalko 12. A: 1050).
