Division 1 A, round 21-22: Torpan Pojat (Helsinki) is rolling. Seven victories now in a row and only one loss this year. Yes, it was January 6 and ToPo was visiting Kaarina and meeting Ura Basket on the road. Ura Basket won 110-87. Tonight ToPo was again in Kaarina and meeting the same Ura Basket. This time there was no room for upset, but ToPo crushed the hosts 83-122 (45-67). ToPo had seven players in double figures, ToPo (16-5) was shooting with 60% accuracy from behind the arc (18/30) and winning even the rebounds 30-53. Devin Ginty (188-G-89, college: San Diego) led ToPo with 24pts/9rbs/5a. HL Coleman (202-F-74, college: Wyoming) added 17 pts. Ura Basket (6-15) got 21 pts from Bobby Nash (198-G/F-84). Nolan Richardson (188-G-84, agency: Hart Sports Mngm, college: Midwestern St.) added 20 pts.
Pyrinto II (Tampere) scored 107 points and beat BC Nokia after 17 lead changes and 10 ties by 19 points: 107-88 (50-50). Pyrinto's sharpshooters made 14 treys out of 22 shots from behind the bonusline (64%)! Joni Harjula (189-G-83) led Pyrinto with 28 pts (treys 5/7). Topias Palmi (190-SG-94) netted 25 pts. Brian Moultrie (198-C/F-87, college: Armstr.Atlantic) (BC Nokia) made a double-double 32pts/14rbs. Moultrie missed only one shot in the game (1 - 4/4, 2 - 14/15).
Huima (Aanekoski) lost at home vs Honka (Tapiola) 81-86 (45-35). Huima's key players were early in foul troubles and Honka won the fourth quarter 17-28. Ronnie Clark (195-F/G-81) was again Honka's MVP: 39 pts (1 - 1/1, 2 - 10/16, 3 - 6/11) and 11 rbs. Honka (14-8) was shooting with 52% (12/23) accuracy from behind the arc. Andre Stephens (202-F-87, college: S.Mississippi) led the hosts with 27pts/15rbs.
