Belgium finished their 2015 EuroBasket Qualifying Round campaign with win over Finland. Sofie Hendrickx (187-PF-86) stepped up with 12 points and 14 rebounds to pace Belgium in Helsinki. Belgium finished at 1-1 record, while Finland fell at 0-2 in Group C. Finland ensured a quick start to the game. The hosts dominated in the opening ten minutes to take a 12-point lead. Belgium changed their attitude defensively in the second period. The visitors held Finland to 9 points in the frame to narrow the deficit at 8-point mark 25:33. Belgium continued their rally in the third stanza. The visitors went on an 18:4 run to spur ahead. Finland denied the deficit in the fourth frame. Lehtoranta tied things up at 56 with 47 seconds remaining. Mayombo answered with two free throws and then Deyaert sank one freebie to seal the win for Belgium. Poland claimed the second straight win in Group C of the 2015 EuroBasket Qualifying Round. The Polish team thus clinched the top position in the group. They advanced into semifinal stage now.

Poland held the hosts to 14 points in the first frame to gain a 5-point lead. They boosted the lead in the second frame. Poland went on a 20:12 rally to establish a 39:26 halftime advantage. Finland slowed the visitors down in the third term. The hosts adjusted defensively and narrowed the deficit at 10-point mark with ten minutes remaining. Reetta Piipari (170-PG-80, college: Xavier) and Heta Korpivaara (186-G/F-84, agency: Regeneracom Sports, college: Seton Hall) put Finland within one 56:57 with under four minutes remaining. However Agnieszka Szott-Hejmej (185-F-82, agency: Data Plus Group) came up with back-to-back three-pointers and Poland got away with the crucial win at the end. Magdalena Leciejewska (191-C-86) chipped in 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead Poland. Agnieszka Szott-Hejmej contributed 15 points for the winners. Vilja Kesanen (179-G-91) signs 1+1 year deal with ToPo. The player will join her Vilma Kesanen (179-G-88) in the team.
Vilja Kesanen played for Honka Akatemia Espoo. In 34 1st Division games she recorded 9.5ppg, 2.7rpg and 1.2spg this season. She helped them to make it to the semifinals. Kesanen played in the final of Finnish League in 2011.

Among other achievements Kesanen received Eurobasket.com Finnish League All-Domestic Players Team award back in 2010. She has been also a member of Finnish international program for some years. Kesanen has regularly played for since 2009 and two years ago for U22 National Team. She represented Finland at the Qualifications to European Championships 2013 last year. Her stats at that event were 8 games: 1.9ppg, 2.4rpg, 1.3apg. Kesanen has played also professionally for other Finnish teams like Aanekosken and S-Hameenmaa.
