There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Seventh-ranked HyPo (8-8) gave a tough game to first ranked TuNMKY (14-3) in Hyvinkaa on Friday. The visitors from Turun managed to secure only two-point victory 94-92. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-15. But HyPo won second period 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TuNMKY made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. TuNMKY looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Eero Innamaa (186-98) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and forward Tomi Lommi (193-96) who added 29 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard De'Andre Upchurch (188-91, college: Tarleton St.) responded with 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. HyPo's coach Besim Maxhuni rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TuNMKY maintains first position in Division with 14-3 record. HyPo at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. TuNMKY are looking forward to face Espoo Basket (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. HyPo will play against Karkkila (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Helsinki. Third ranked ToPo (11-7) saved a 1-point victory at home edging their biggest opponent Espoo United (13-5) 95-94 on Sunday evening. The winners were led by forward Cedric Latimer (198-87, college: St.Francis, PA) who scored that evening 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Nigel Moore supported him with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds by American guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: Connecticut) did not help to save the game for Espoo United. Espoo United's coach Ville Neva tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted ToPo maintains third position in Division with 11-7 record having just two points less than leader TuNMKY. Espoo United at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second place with five games lost. ToPo will play against Jyvaskyla BA (#5) on the road in the next round. Espoo United will play against Pyrinto II and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Forssa between Forssan Koripojat and Jarvenpaa. Eighth ranked Forssan Koripojat (8-11) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Jarvenpaa (7-11). Forssan Koripojat managed to escape with a 3-point win 86-83 on Sunday evening. Roderick Flemings fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. HL Coleman produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Forssan Koripojat moved-up to sixth place in Division. Loser Jarvenpaa dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Forssan Koripojat will meet Porvoon Tarmo (#7) on the road in the next round. Jarvenpaa will play against the league's leader Lahti and hope to secure a win.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Espoo. Second ranked host Espoo United (13-5) smashed 4th ranked Jyvaskyla BA (9-8) 100-66. It was a very good performance for Omar Calhoun who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Espoo United's coach Ville Neva felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Espoo United maintains second position in Division with 13-5 record behind leader TuNMKY. Jyvaskyla BA at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. Espoo United's next round opponent will be Pyrinto II (#10) in Tampere and are hoping to win another game. Jyvaskyla BA will play at home against ToPo (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
1st Division top team - Lahti (15-4) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Pyrinto II (4-14) 90-51. Worth to mention a quality performance of Rashad Smith who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Coach Arttu Mannelin's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lahti maintains first position in Division with 15-4 record. Loser Pyrinto II keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. Lahti will face Jarvenpaa (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pyrinto II will play against the league's second-placed Espoo United and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16:
In Division Porvoon Tarmo was destroyed by Oulun NMKY on the opponent's court 80-59. Oulun NMKY managed to outperform Jarvenpaa in a home game 76-59. HyPo managed to beat HNMKY U23 on the road 103-94. Karkkila was crushed by Munkkiniemen on its own court 58-87. Ura Basket beat JyWe in Kaarina 82-71. Namika Lr was destroyed by Espoo Basket at home 73-100. TuNMKY managed to outperform PeU-Basket on the opponent's court 87-73. Korikouvot was rolled over PuHu Juniorit in a home game 60-88. PeU-Basket defeated Namika Lr on the road 84-70. Munkkiniemen was smashed by PuHu Juniorit on its own court 59-87.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 19 points and 9 rebounds by Pyry Rainamaa of PuHu Juniorit.

Division A
Lahti - Pyrinto II 90-51

1st Division top team - Lahti (15-4) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Pyrinto II (4-14) 90-51. The game without a history. Lahti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Pyrinto II to just 6 points in second quarter. Lahti dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Pyrinto II's 36. They outrebounded Pyrinto II 40-22 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lahti looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Pyrinto II's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lahti made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Rashad Smith (201-93, college: Tulsa, agency: Diamond Sports) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and the other American import power forward Jerald Fields (201-82, college: E.Tenn.St.) who added 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks during the contest. Rather expected game when 6th ranked Porvoon Tarmo (7-10) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Oulun NMKY (11-8) 80-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Oulun NMKY. Porvoon Tarmo was better in third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Porvoon Tarmo 43-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Demondre Harvey (201-93, college: La-Monroe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds and guard Oskari Virolainen (187-93) who added 15 points and 7 assists during the contest.
