Round 29 most important game was a victory of Helsinki Seagulls over second-ranked Salon Vilpas 87-78 on Wednesday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Salon Vilpas won third quarter 27-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Raymond Cowels-III (193-90, college: Santa Clara) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Antto Nikkarinen (185-91, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. American point guard Juwan Staten (185-92, college: W.Virginia) answered with 19 points and 4 assists for Salon Vilpas. Helsinki Seagulls maintains first place with 19-6 record. Salon Vilpas at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Helsinki Seagulls are looking forward to face bottom-ranked UU-Korihait (#10) in Uusikaupunki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Salon Vilpas will play on the road against KTP-Basket (#8) in Kotka and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

American guard Antwan Scott (188-92, college: Colorado St.) responded with 28 points. Joensuun Kataja maintains fourth place with 16-8 record. KTP-Basket at the other side keeps the eighth position with 17 games lost. Joensuun Kataja will play against BC Nokia (#7) at home in the next round. KTP-Basket will play against the league's second-placed Salon Vilpas and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Antero Lehto came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds for Tampereen Pyrinto in the defeat. Kauhajoen Karhu have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Tampereen Pyrinto lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 18 games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will meet at home Lapuan Korikobrat (#5) in the next round. Tampereen Pyrinto will play against Kouvot (#6) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 29 Kouvot beat Korihait on the road 87-81. Lapua won against Korihait on its own court 82-73.
The most impressive performance of 29th round was 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals by Bojan Sarcevic of Kauhajoki.

Korihait - Kouvot 81-87

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Kouvot (11-14) beat bottom-ranked UU-Korihait (4-22) in Uusikaupunki 87-81 on Saturday. UU-Korihait trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 30-21 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 81-87 at the end of the game. Kouvot made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Kouvot had a 29-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Raheem Appleby (190-93, college: Louisiana Tech) nailed 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) accounted for 19 points and 8 rebounds. Mikael Herbert (205-93, college: Tulane) came up with 16 points and American guard Emmanuel Holloway (185-86, college: Illinois St., agency: Blacktop Management) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for UU-Korihait in the defeat. Four UU-Korihait players scored in double figures. UU-Korihait's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. UU-Korihait lost fourteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 22 lost games. Kouvot will meet Tampereen Pyrinto (#9) on the road in the next round. UU-Korihait will play against the league's leader Helsinki Seagulls and hope to secure a win.

The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But UU-Korihait won fourth quarter 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded UU-Korihait 40-22 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds.
