Top ranked Helsinki Seagulls (20-7) recorded its seventh loss at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked KTP-Basket (11-18) 88-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Helsinki Seagulls. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-16. But Helsinki Seagulls won second period 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American Monyea Pratt (196-85, college: Stillman, agency: Court Side) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. His fellow American import guard Antwan Scott (188-92, college: Colorado St.) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Antto Nikkarinen (185-91, agency: Blacktop Management) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 assists for lost side. KTP-Basket maintains eighth place with 11-18 record. Helsinki Seagulls at the other side still keeps top position with seven games lost. KTP-Basket are looking forward to face higher ranked BC Nokia (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Helsinki Seagulls will play against Kauhajoen Karhu (#3) in Kauhajoki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

International Mikko Koivisto (194-87, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Blacktop Management) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds for Salon Vilpas. Salon Vilpas' coach Joonas Iisalo rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BC Nokia maintains sixth place with 12-16 record. Salon Vilpas at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. BC Nokia will play against KTP-Basket (#8) in Kotka in the next round. Salon Vilpas will play at home against Tampereen Pyrinto (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

At the losing side Mikko Jalonen responded with 12 points and 9 assists. UU-Korihait's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kauhajoen Karhu have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 19-10 record behind leader Helsinki Seagulls. UU-Korihait lost sixteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 24 lost games. Kauhajoen Karhu will meet at home league's leader Helsinki Seagulls in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UU-Korihait will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 31 Pyrinto was defeated by Lapua in a road game 91-82.

Lapua - Pyrinto 91-82

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (10-19) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (15-13) 91-82 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 25-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Lapuan Korikobrat made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard Jamal Jones (203-93, college: Texas A&M, agency: Stealth Sport) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Mario Edwards (191-88, college: Co.Carolina, agency: Mansfield and Associates) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). At the losing side American guard Kelvin Lewis (195-88, college: Houston) responded with 17 points and the former international point guard Antero Lehto (185-84) scored 10 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lapuan Korikobrat maintains fifth place with 15-13 record. Loser Tampereen Pyrinto keeps the ninth position with 19 games lost. Lapuan Korikobrat will meet Kouvot (#7) in the next round. Tampereen Pyrinto will play against the league's second-placed Salon Vilpas and hope to secure a win.

The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 7-point deficit before their 32-25 run, which allowed them to win the game. BC Nokia made 28-of-37 charity shots (75.7 percent) during the game. Salon Vilpas was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese forward Papa Dia (208-87, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds.
