There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in 1st Division. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Lahti (19-6) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked HBA-Marsky (10-15) 92-81. The game was mostly controlled by HBA-Marsky. Lahti managed to win third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Lahti helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Edon Maxhuni (186-98) scored 32 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Hannes Polla (212-98) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Rashad Smith (201-93, college: Tulsa, agency: Diamond Sports) responded with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Lahti's coach Arttu Mannelin rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. HBA-Marsky moved-up to sixth place. Lahti at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. HBA-Marsky are looking forward to face Jarvenpaa (#8) on the road in the next round. Lahti will play against Forssan Koripojat (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Helsinki. Fourth ranked Jyvaskyla BA (14-11) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers ToPo (16-9) 84-82 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of ToPo. Point guard Robert Juvonen (185-91) notched 22 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and Jeretapio Luoma supported him with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds by Gambian power forward Pierre Jallow (203-79, college: William Jewell) did not help to save the game for ToPo. ToPo's coach Pekka Konttinen tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Jyvaskyla BA maintains fourth position with 14-11 record. ToPo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third place with nine games lost. Jyvaskyla BA will play against Pyrinto II (#10) in Tampere in the next round where they are favorite. ToPo will play at home against Oulun NMKY (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Kouvola. 4th ranked host Korikouvot (16-10) lost to first ranked PuHu Juniorit (22-4) 89-84. Sakari Salminen fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Teemu Knihtinen produced 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. PuHu Juniorit have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-4 record. Loser Korikouvot keeps the fourth place with ten games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Kaarina. Third ranked host Ura Basket (19-7) defeated their biggest opponent TuNMKY (21-5) 90-85. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of TuNMKY. Worth to mention a great performance of Jermaine Watson who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Ura Basket maintains third position with 19-7 record having just three points less than leader Lahti. TuNMKY at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Turun. Second ranked host TuNMKY (21-5) defeated one of their biggest challengers Ura Basket (19-7) 91-78. Timka Jaakkola scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Ura Basket's coach Jukka Valpola let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. TuNMKY have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 21-5 record behind leader Lahti. Loser Ura Basket keeps the third place with seven games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 22: Pyrinto II won against Porvoon Tarmo on the opponent's court 73-64. Pyrinto II unfortunately lost to Oulun NMKY in a home game 75-83. Oulun NMKY recorded a loss to Jarvenpaa on the road 76-83. HBA-Marsky crushed Porvoon Tarmo on its own court 103-67. Korikouvot was smashed by PuHu Juniorit in Vantaa 87-45. FoKoPo was destroyed by Espoo United at home 67-121.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 25 points and 7 rebounds by Mikael Sandberg of TuNMKY.

Division A
Porvoon Tarmo - Pyrinto II 64-73

There was an upset when higher ranked Porvoon Tarmo (10-16) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Pyrinto II (8-17) 73-64 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 26-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Pyrinto II outrebounded Porvoon Tarmo 45-23 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Terrell Vinson (201-90, college: Massachusetts, agency: HMS) scored 23 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Justus Kilpinen (193-93) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Levi Giese (206-90, college: Lafayette) responded with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import forward BJ Cardarelli (203, college: S.New Hampshire, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 20 points. Pyrinto II moved-up to ninth place, which they share with FoKoPo. Porvoon Tarmo lost fifth consecutive game. Loser Porvoon Tarmo dropped to the seventh position with 16 games lost. Pyrinto II will face higher ranked Jyvaskyla BA (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

American forward Demondre Harvey (201-93, college: La-Monroe) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Ilmari Kallio (191-92) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Oulun NMKY players scored in double figures. We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Helsinki where seventh ranked HBA-Marsky (10-15) outscored 6th ranked Porvoon Tarmo (10-16) 103-67 on Thursday. HBA-Marsky looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Porvoon Tarmo's players. Swingman Timka Jaakkola (192-94) scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Eero Innamaa (186-98) chipped in 23 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Jermaine Watson (193-81, college: Boston Coll.) responded with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Sean Harris (201, college: Utah St.) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ura Basket's coach Jukka Valpola let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. TuNMKY have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 21-5 record behind leader Lahti. Loser Ura Basket keeps the third place with seven games lost.

There was no surprise in Vantaa where 4th ranked Korikouvot (16-10) was outplayed by first ranked PuHu Juniorit (22-4) 87-45 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by PuHu Juniorit. Korikouvot was better in second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Korikouvot to just 7 points in fourth quarter. PuHu Juniorit held Korikouvot to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Guard Pyry Rainamaa (194-90) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Eero Lehtinen (194-85) chipped in 8 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Danish center Nicolai Andersen (203-96) responded with 7 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Teemu Knihtinen (195-98) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. No shocking result in a game when second ranked Espoo United (18-6) outleveled on the road 9th ranked Forssan Koripojat (8-17) 121-67 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Espoo United led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Forssan Koripojat's 32. Espoo United forced 20 Forssan Koripojat turnovers and outrebounded Forssan Koripojat 43-26 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Espoo United looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Forssan Koripojat's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Espoo United made 8 blocks. American guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: Connecticut) scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Five Espoo United players scored in double figures. Espoo United's coach Ville Neva felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Bruce Reed (202-90, college: Pikeville) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Teemu Sulonen (188-94) scored 22 points. Espoo United have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Espoo United maintains second position with 18-6 record having six points less than leader Lahti. Forssan Koripojat lost sixth consecutive game. Loser Forssan Koripojat keeps the ninth place with 17 games lost. Espoo United will face Porvoon Tarmo (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Forssan Koripojat will play against the league's leader Lahti and hope to win that game.
