Kataja outgunned BC Nokia to take 1-0 lead in the series. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Joensuun Kataja made 32-of-39 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Joensuun Kataja made 7 blocks. 35 personal fouls committed by BC Nokia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Haitian center Kervin Bristol (206-88, college: Fordham) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners.
