Kouvot - Helsinki Seagulls 88-94

Helsinki Seagulls upset Kouvot on the road and iced their semifinal appearance. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kouvot won third quarter 26-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kouvot 61-49 including 19 on the offensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Kouvot helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international point guard Antto Nikkarinen (185-91, agency: Blacktop Management) fired 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American center Devonte Upson (206-93, college: SE Louisiana) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Michael Cuffee (195-83, college: Middle Tenn.St.) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Rakeem Buckles (203-90, college: FIU) added 9 points and 17 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Helsinki Seagulls and four Kouvot players scored in double figures.

Lapua - Kauhajoki 73-87

Kauhajoki topped Lapua to win the series 3-1. It looked good early as Lapuan Korikobrat took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kauhajoen Karhu had a 21-8 second period charge getting the lead and Lapuan Korikobrat was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-87. Kauhajoen Karhu made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Kauhajoen Karhu outrebounded Lapuan Korikobrat 38-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Lapuan Korikobrat was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Austin Hollins (195-91, college: Minnesota) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 rebounds. Forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Guard Mario Edwards (191-88, college: Co.Carolina, agency: Mansfield and Associates) replied with 12 points and 5 assists and guard Jamal Jones (203-93, college: Texas A&M) added 11 points in the effort for Lapuan Korikobrat.

However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Joensuun Kataja made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American Rion Brown (198-91, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and the former international point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80) who added 13 points during the contest. Four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Eldar Skamo (198-86) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Isaiah Wilkerson (191-90, college: NJIT) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds.
