Perpignan grabs 75-71 OT win against Toulouse, wins LF2 title - May 13, 2012

Perpignan - Toulouse 75-71 OT
Perpignan is the LF2 champion for season 2011/12. They grabbed 75-71 overtime win against Toulouse in the Big Final. Perpignan was the regular season champ as well. Both teams will compete in LFB next season. Perpignan trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 18-8 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 4-point victory in overtime. Perpignan made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Perpignan made 7 blocks. Toulouse was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Helena Ciak (195-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Laina Badiane (180-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Carrem Gay (188-87, college: Duke) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and guard Agathe Degorces (170-92) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Toulouse. Perpignan eliminated Voiron in the Semifinals.

Third place in LF2 belongs to COB Calais. They celebrated 80-66 win against Voiron today. Both teams will play in LF2 next season as well. COB Calais led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Etoile de Voiron was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for forward Melanie Arnaud (184-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Emilie Duvivier (168-84) contributed with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Amanda Lassiter (186-79, college: Missouri) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and guard Faeza Bouderra (165-82, college: FIU) added 14 points and 6 assists in the effort for Etoile de Voiron.

LF2: Helena Ciak is MVP of the Final Four Tournament - May 14, 2012

Helena Ciak (195-C-89) and her team Perpignan outplayed Toulouse 75-71 to win the 2011/12 LF2 title. The French center was named MVP of the Final Four Tournament. She led Perpignan to victory in the Big Final with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists. Ciak reached valuation 37. In the Semifinals, Perpignan was better than Voiron 63-52. Helena Ciak had another impressive performance with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Her valuation in this game was 38. Perpignan won the title and also the promotion for LFB. Helena Ciak joined Perpignan last summer from Roche Vendee. She played for the French U20 National Team in the past.
