Le Portel swept the ProB championship series versus Evreux. They therefore clinched ProA promotion with the victory. The game was mostly controlled by Le Portel. ALM Evreux managed to win second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ALM Evreux to just 4 points in first quarter. They outrebounded ALM Evreux 45-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. Le Portel looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import Myles McKay (192-86, college: Wisc.-Whitewater) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. McKay is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Le Portel's coach Eric Girard used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) produced 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Senegalese power forward Papa Beye (202-90) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Bourg-en-Bresse celebrated the ProB Leaders Cup title. They overcame Boulazac at the Dinsey Events Arena tonight. Philippe Braud (194-SG-85) scored 14 points to lead the winners. Boulazac got to a confident start. They built a 20:14 lead ten minutes into the game. Bourg-en-Bresse erased the deficit in the second term and tied things up at 38:38. Bourg-en-Bresse surged ahead in the third period. They piled up a 7-point lead at the final intermission. Bourg-en-Bresse nailed 21 points in the fourth quarter and raced to the title. Christophe Leonard (199-F-90, agency: Comsport) produced 13 points, while Zachery Peacock (203-C-87, college: Georgia Tech) netted 12 points in the victory. Franklin Hassell (203-F/C-88, college: ODU, agency: Inception Sports) and David Jackson (195-SG-86, college: W.Illinois) responded with 16 points each for Boulazac.
