French NM1 round 19 best performance: Fabien Herard (by BasketStore) - Feb 6, 2012

Fabien
Herard
Forward Fabien Herard (198-F-79) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Challans, receiving a Eurobasket.com NM1 Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 32-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, five rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush CFBB (#18, 2-17) with 19-point margin 77-58. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Challans maintains the 10th position in French NM1. Challans is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 10-9 record. In the team's last game Herard had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Challans, through which he has constantly improved. Fabien Herard averages this season 14.6ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old Finnish Ville Kaunisto (204-F-82) of Blois. Kaunisto had a very good evening with a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Blois lost that game 71-83 to the higher-ranked Souffel (#3, 13-6). This loss caused Blois to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 12-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Kaunisto is a newcomer at Blois, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.3ppg (#4). He also registered 12.2 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Regis Aubry (199-F-82) of Montbrison (#17). Aubry scored 24 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Montbrison, leading his team to a 78-65 easy win against the higher-ranked Charleville (#2, 14-5). Montbrison can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-16 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Aubry he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Aubry has individually a great season in France. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.9rpg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. SyPir Traore (204-F-85) of Angers BC 49 - 16 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Josh Almanson (205-F-82) of Challans - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Francisco Bateko (185-G-84) of Roche - 21 points and 3 assists
7. Streten Cabarkapa (204-C-84) of Rueil - 13 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Benjamin Thomas (181-G-82) of Roche - 22 points and 8 assists
9. Adrien Daube (193-G-89) of Le Puy - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Keonta Howell (193-G-85) of St Quentin - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
