Here is the weekly review of the top performing French players, who play currently abroad.


Tony Parker

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Tony Parker (183-82). He led San Antonio Spurs to a victory over the Utah Jazz (30-28) 114-104 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. Parker was MVP of the game. He scored 28 points (!!!) and added 3 passes (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) in 31 minutes on the court. The San Antonio Spurs have a solid 40-15 record this season. It was his team's 11th consecutive victory in a row. It's Parker's first year with the team. Parker has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.1ppg, 2.8rpg, 7.6apg, 2FGP: 49.5%, 3FGP: 25.5% and FT: 80.1% in the 51 games he played so far. Parker is currently a member of the French senior national team.

Kevin Seraphin

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Kevin Seraphin (205-89). He was the main contributor in a Washington Wizards' victory against the Orlando Magic (33-24) 93-85 in the NBA last Tuesday. Seraphin was the best player in that game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 13 rebounds. Seraphin also added 4 blocks. The Washington Wizards have rather weak 14-44 record this season. It's Seraphin's first year with the team. His overall stats this year are: 6.8ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.2bpg, 2FGP: 54.0% and FT: 67.3%. Seraphin has a dual citizenship: Guyanese and French. Despite he played previously for the Guyanese national team, Seraphin is currently a member of the French senior national team.

Joakim Noah

   #3. The French player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Joakim Noah (211-85, college: Florida). He was the major contributor in a Chicago Bulls' victory against the Boston Celtics (33-24) 93-86 in the NBA on Thursday night. Noah scored 17 points, had 9 rebounds and made 3 blocks (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in 34 minutes. The Chicago Bulls have quite an impressive 44-14 record this season. Noah is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Bulls' roster. He has relatively good stats this season: 10.0ppg, 9.7rpg, 2.5apg, 1.4bpg, 2FGP: 50.2% and FT: 74.4% in the 56 games. Noah is a naturalized American. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Noah is currently a member of the French senior national team. Strangely he has never played in France.

   #4. Forward Nicolas Batum (201-88) contributed to a Portland Trail Blazers' victory against the New Jersey Nets (21-38) 101-88 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. Batum recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds. The Portland Trail Blazers have 26-31 record this season. It's Batum's first year with the team. This year he has very high stats. Batum averages: 14.0ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.4apg. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Batum is currently in the French national team roster.

International center Ali Traore (207-85, agency: Beo Basket, college: S.Idaho JC) helped his Russian team Lokomotiv win their game against the closely-ranked Zalgiris (9-7) 80-71 in the VTB United League last Tuesday. He had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds in 29 minutes. Lokomotiv Kuban (9-7) is placed fourth in group B. It's Traore's first season with the team. This year Traore has relatively solid stats: 12.5ppg and 4.6rpg in the 17 games. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Traore is currently in the French national team roster.

   #6. Guard Rodrigue Beaubois (186-88, agency: Court Side) helped Dallas Mavericks win their game against the Sacramento Kings (19-39) 110-100 in the NBA on Tuesday night. He scored 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). The Dallas Mavericks have 32-26 record this season. Beaubois has reliable stats this year: 9.1ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.8apg and 1.1spg. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Beaubois is also an international player who is currently on the senior French National Team roster.

He was the top player that evening. De Colo recorded 15 points and added 4 passes in 25 minutes. Valencia Basket (16-12) is placed fifth in the ACB. De Colo belongs to league's top scorers (ranked #9) and also on the list of most steals (fifth place). He has very reliable stats this year: 13.6ppg, 2.9rpg, 2.8apg and 1.5spg in the 28 games. Despite De Colo played previously for the USA national team, he is currently in the French national team roster.

   #8. Power forward Ronny Turiaf (208-83, agency: Priority Sports, college: Gonzaga) helped Miami Heat win their game against the Detroit Pistons (21-36) crushing them 98-75 in the NBA last Sunday. Turiaf scored 8 points, had 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks. The Miami Heat has a solid 40-16 record this season. Turiaf's overall stats this year are: 3.6ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.1bpg. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Turiaf is currently in the French national team roster.

The San Antonio Spurs have a solid 40-15 record this season. It was his team's 11th consecutive victory in a row. This year Diaw's overall stats are: 4.2ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg in the nine games. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Diaw is currently in the French national team roster.

Forward Yakhouba Diawara (201-82, college: Pepperdine) helped Cimberio Varese win their n overtime game against the 13th-ranked Angelico Biella (11-16) 89-82 in the Italian SerieA in Monday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Diawara recorded 22 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Cimberio Varese (14-12) is placed eighth in the SerieA. This season Diawara has very high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.7apg and 1.6spg. Despite Diawara played previously for the USA national team, he is also a former international player as four years ago he still played for the French senior national team.

   #11. Former international point guard Afik Nissim (180-81, also represented by Beo Basket) helped Krka win their game against the leader Union Olimpija 58-47 in the Slovenian Telemach League last Sunday. Nissim scored 11 points and added 3 assists in 26 minutes. This year Nissim's total stats are: 8.2ppg, 1.6rpg and 4.0apg in the five games. Despite he played previously for the Israeli national team, Nissim is currently in the French national team roster.

   #12. Former international center Johan Petro (214-86), who plays in the NBA could not help the New Jersey Nets (21-38) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his good performance the New Jersey Nets were badly defeated 107-88 on the road by the Philadelphia 76ers. Petro scored 12 points. Petro has averaged so far 4.1ppg and 3.7rpg. Despite he played previously for the Israeli national team, Petro is currently in the French national team roster.

   #13. International forward Mickael Gelabale (201-83, another player represented by Court Side) helped Khimky win their game against the eighth-ranked Unics Kazan 73-65 in the Russian PBL in Thursday night's game. He recorded 8 points in 16 minutes. Gelabale has averaged so far 4.5ppg and 2.9rpg in the eight games. Despite he played previously for the Israeli national team, Gelabale is currently in the French national team roster.

   #14. International power forward Ian Mahinmi (206-86) is a teammate of previously mentioned Rodrigue Beaubois. However that was another game of his team in NBA which brought him to that list. Mahinmi managed to help Dallas Mavericks to win against the Memphis Grizzlies 95-85. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Mahinmi has averaged so far 6.1ppg and 4.8rpg. He plays currently for the French national team.

   #15. International forward Florent Pietrus (202-81) is a teammate of previously mentioned Nando De Colo and both played together in the last Spanish ACB game. Pietrus helped Valencia Basket win their game against the 12th-ranked FIATC Joventut crushing them 90-67. He recorded only 4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in 13 minutes. Pietrus has averaged so far 2.5ppg and 3.2rpg in the 26 games. He is also in the roster of the French national team.

Gregor Beugnot leaves Chalon - May 24, 2013

Gregor Beugnot has decided to put an end to his outstanding career in Chalon-sur-Saone. The head coach has decided to leave the team after 10 seasons at helm. Gregor Beugnot has the contract until 2014 but opted to split ways with the team after rather a successful season. Chalon finished fourth in ProA regular season and made it into the playoff semifinal stage. Last season Gregor Beugnot led the team to the ProA title last season. ASVEL - Strasbourg 52-73 Strasbourg outgunned ASVEL on the road and sealed the title series appearance. Strasbourg IG shot 61.7 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Strasbourg IG especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage.
