France registered third straight win at 2012 Olympic Games in London. This time France was better than Canada 64-60 for perfect 3-0 record in Group B. France is now very close to reach the Quarterfinals and actually only theory can keep them away. At the other side, Canada dropped to 1-2 in this pool. Emilie Gomis (180-G/F-83) and Isabelle Yacoubou-Dehoui (190-C-86) were the leading players in victory with 16 and 14 points respectively. Sandrine Gruda (193-C-87) (7 rebs) and Celine Dumerc (169-G-82) (5 rebs) helped with 10 points each. In defeat, Shona Thorburn (178-G-82, college: Utah) answered with 17 points, and Natalie Achonwa (190-F-92) had 14 pts, plus 8 rebs. Kimberley Smith (186-F-84, college: Utah) was third scorer in Canada with 8 points.
Yacoubou's consecutive lay-ins to start the final period gave the French a 46-40 advantage. Canada was able to cut it to 62-60 after Natalia Anchonwas three-point play with 9.5 seconds left. Celine Dumerc sealed the win with two free throws less than a second later. Quarters: 13-12, 15-13, 14-15, 22-20.
On Friday, France will play against the host UK. Canada will meet Brazil in maybe the crucial game.

Cote d'Opale Basket Calais (LF2) inked 21-year old power forward Angelina Turmel (198-96). She has played for the last three years at Angers - Union Feminine Basket 49 in the LFB. LFB was a little too high level for her, where in 20 games she recorded just 1.4ppg and 1.6rpg last season. LF2 will be definitely a better match and she can see more playing time. Cote d'Opale Basket Calais (LF2) agreed terms with 26-year old forward Anais Viale (188-91) from Dunkerque Malo Basket Club. Viale has played there for the last four years. In 23 LF2 games she had 12.4ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.0apg and 1.6spg last season. Quite impressive year as she was named to Eurobasket.com All-French LF2 Honorable Mention. Emmanuelle Gorjeu agreed terms with COB Calais - 2 days ago
Cote d'Opale Basket Calais (LF2) inked 28-year old guard Emmanuelle Gorjeu (172-89) from Limoges ABC en Limousin. In 24 LF2 games she recorded 8.3ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.5apg last season. Among other achievements Gorjeu's team made it to the LF2 Semifinals in 2015. She received also Eurobasket.com All-French LF2 Domestic Player of the Year award in 2015.
