Michael Thompson (177-PG-89, college: Northwestern) is a new member of ASVEL. The American point guard left Le Havre during the tryout period to join ASVEL. He will make debut against Orleans at tournament in Bourges. Thompson spent last season with Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt and it was his first pro deal. The player had 8.5 ppg, 1.7 rpg and 1.7 apg for 27 games in Germany. He also added 7 ppg, 4 rpg and 3.3 apg for 6 appearances in EuroCup. Thompson played for the New Orleans Hornets at 2012 NBA Pro Summer League in Las Vegas. He had 4 ppg and 1.3 apg in 4 games. The point guard graduated at Northwestern University something more than a year ago. He shined with 16.3 ppg, 4.3 apg and 2.2 rpg in 34 games as a senior. He was named to All-Big Ten 3rd Team -11 and Big Ten All-Tournament Team -11. Thompson helped Northwestern to reached NIT Elite Eight.

Chalon dismantled Roanne in the decisive third game of the quarterfinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Chalon/Saor. Chorale de Roanne managed to win third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chalon/Saor made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American guard Marcus Denmon (190-90, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. The former international guard Steed Tchicamboud (193-81) contributed with 11 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. Chalon/Saor's coach Gregor Beugnot felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Coleman Collins (206-86, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Interperformances) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the other American import Matt Howard (203-89, college: Butler) added 11 points in the effort for Chorale de Roanne. ASVEL prevailed against Le Mans in the third game and booked the semifinal ticket. Le Mans was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Le Mans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international guard Edwin Jackson (191-89) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 5 assists. American guard Alex Acker (196-83, college: Pepperdine) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket players scored in double figures.
