We bring you last week's top performances from French who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former U20 international forward Aaron Cel (203-87, currently plays in VTB United League), who plays in Poland. He could not help PGE Turow (0-4) in their last game. Despite Cel's very good performance the tenth-placed PGE Turow was edged 76-74 at home by the higher-ranked (#5) Krasnie Krilya in the group A of VTB United League. He was the top scorer with 19 points. Cel also added 7 rebounds in 33 minutes on the court. So far PGE Turow lost all four games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Cel averages: 7.3ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 57.1%, 3FGP: 36.4% in the four games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: French and Polish. Former Le Mans Sarthe Basket starter played for the French U20 national team five years ago.

Yakhouba Diawara

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Yakhouba Diawara (201-82, college: Pepperdine, currently plays in Italy). Diawara led Umana Venezia to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Enel Brindisi (1-4) 82-63 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. He was MVP of the game. Diawara recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 11 rebounds. Umana Reyer Venezia (2-3) is placed 12th in the SerieA. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Diawara has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 6.8rpg, 2FGP: 44.1%, 3FGP: 42.3% and FT: 76.5%. Diawara is in the roster of the French senior national team.

   #3. The French player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international forward Tariq Kirksay (199-79, college: Iona, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to a 3-point Asefa Estudiantes' victory against the closely-ranked Valencia Basket (4-1) 85-82 in the Spanish ACB on Saturday night. Kirksay scored 8 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 32 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Asefa Estudiantes Madrid (4-1) is placed second in the ACB. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Kirksay is ranked fifth on the list of the best rebounders in the league and also on the list of most steals (first place). He has very reliable stats this year: 13.2ppg, 7.2rpg, 2.6apg, 2.8spg, 2FGP: 76.9%(20-26), 3FGP: 31.8% and FT: 62.5% in the five games. Kirksay is a naturalized American. He played for the French national team four years ago. Kirksay used to play for Mulhouse in French league.

Point guard Rodrigue Beaubois (186-88, agency: Court Side, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a Dallas Mavericks' victory against the Los Angeles Lakers (0-1) 99-91 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. He recorded 11 points and added 5 assists. It was his first game for Dallas Mavericks this season. His team have 1-0 record this season. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Beaubois used to play for the French national team last year.

   #5. U20 international guard Leo Westermann (198-92, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) helped his Serbian team Partizan win their game against the 11th-ranked Radnicki KG (2-4) 91-80 in the Adriatic League in Sunday night's game. Westermann scored 10 points and added 3 passes in 26 minutes. BC Partizan MT:S Beograd (5-1) is placed second in the Adriatic League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Westermann's first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 8.5ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3spg in the six games. Westermann plays currently for the French U20 national team.

   #6. Small forward Mickael Gelabale (201-83, agency: Three Eye Sports, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help Cedevita (0-3) in their game against Anadolu Efes (2-1) in the Euroleague. He scored 9 points. But Cedevita (#6) was badly defeated 85-66 on the road by the higher-ranked Anadolu Efes (#3) in the group C of Euroleague. So far Cedevita lost all three games in the Regular Season. Gelabale has relatively good stats this season: 15.0ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.3apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior French National Team roster.

   #7. International forward Florent Pietrus (202-81, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Tariq Kirksay in the Spanish ACB last game. Pietrus was not able to secure a victory for Valencia Basket (4-1) in their game against Asefa Estudiantes (4-1). He scored only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 27 minutes. Valencia Basket was edged 85-82 in Madrid by the second-ranked Asefa Estudiantes. They ended the series of four consecutive victories. This year Pietrus' total stats are: 2.8ppg and 2.6rpg in the five games. He is also French national team player.

   #8. Guard Thomas Heurtel (188-89, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Caja Laboral (3-2) in their game against Real Madrid (5-0) in the Spanish ACB. Heurtel cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Caja Laboral was edged in an overtime 83-81 in Madrid by the leading Real. It was Caja Laboral's first loss after three consecutive victories. Heurtel belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #7. He has averaged so far 3.0ppg, 2.2rpg and 3.8apg. Heurtel used to play for the French U20 national team back in 2009.

   #9. International shooting guard Fabien Causeur (193-87, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Thomas Heurtel and both played together in the last Spanish ACB game. Causeur couldn't help Caja Laboral (3-2) in their game against Real Madrid (5-0). He scored 5 points in 21 minutes. Caja Laboral was edged in an overtime 83-81 in Madrid by the leading Real. Causeur has averaged so far 8.0ppg and 2.8rpg in the four games. He is also in the roster of the French national team.

   #10. Point guard Michael Mokongo (180-86, currently plays in Cyprus) helped Apoel edge the league outsider Etha (0-1) 64-62 in a derby game in the Cypriot Division A on Friday night. Mokongo recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. It was his first game for Apoel this season. His team is placed second in the Division A. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Mokongo is currently fourth on the list of best passers and also on the list of most steals (fourth place). He is a former U20 international player as six years ago he still played for the French national team.

   #11. Former U19 international power forward Rudy Etilopy (208-88, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL couldn't help the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-6) in their last game. Despite Etilopy's very good performance the bottom-ranked Liverpool Mersey Tigers was badly defeated 91-71 in Durham by the higher-ranked (#7) Wildcats. He had a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 14 rebounds in 38 minutes. Etilopy has very impressive stats this year: 16.3ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.5apg, 1.5bpg and 2.3spg in the four games. He used to play for the French U19 national team five years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international guard Ivan Emanuely (198-91, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British EBL D1 (second division) couldn't help Northumbria (0-0) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the league leader Northumbria lost 57-68 on their home court in Newcastle to the lower-ranked (#4) Leeds Carnegie. Emanuely was the top scorer with 20 points. He also added 4 rebounds in 32 minutes. It was his first game for Northumbria this season. Emanuely is ranked fourth on the list of the top scorers in the league with 20 points. He used to play for the French U18 national team back in 2008.

   #13. Former U18 international guard Enzo Tsonga (194-90, currently plays in Switzerland) couldn't help BBC Nyon in their game against SAM Massagno in the Swiss LNA. He cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. Tsonga recorded only 3 points and blocked 2 shots in 26 minutes. His team lost 89-102. He has averaged so far 5.8ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.3bpg in the four games. Tsonga used to play for the French U18 national team five years ago.

   #1. Boris Meno (203-F-83, agency: Two Points, college: Davidson, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL could not help USK Praha (8-0) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the league leader USK Praha was crushed 93-64 on the road by the lower-ranked (#4) BK Decin. Meno was the top scorer with 21 points. He also added 8 rebounds in 29 minutes. Meno is ranked first on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best rebounders (second place). He has individually a very good year with high stats. Meno averages: 19.8ppg, 9.4rpg and 1.7apg in the nine games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Congolese and French.

   #2. Afik Nissim (186-PG-81, currently plays in Israel) led Hapoel Eilat to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Maccabi Haifa (2-1) 80-62 in the Israeli Winner League on Sunday night. Nissim scored 11 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Hapoel Eilat (1-1) is placed third in the Winner League. Nissim has relatively good stats this season: 11.0ppg, 2.0rpg, 2.7apg and 1.7spg. He is another player who holds two passports: French and Israeli.

   #3. Kim Tillie (210-F-88, agency: Priority Sports, college: Utah, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help the league outsider UCAM Murcia (24-6) in their game against FIATC Joventut (3-2) in the Spanish ACB. Tillie scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. the bottom-ranked Liverpool Mersey Tigers was badly defeated 91-71 in Durham by the higher-ranked (#7) Wildcats. was crushed 92-70 in Badalona by the much lower-ranked FIATC Joventut (#9). Tillie has averaged so far 6.2ppg and 3.0rpg. He has both Dutch and French nationalities.

   #4. Mikael Maruotto (199-F/G-91, currently plays in Switzerland) contributed to a Geneve Lions' victory against the sixth-ranked Monthey (2-2) 85-71 in the Swiss LNA on Saturday night. Maruotto recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. Lions de Geneve (3-1) is placed first in the LNA. Maruotto has averaged so far 7.5ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.8apg in the four games. He also holds two passports: French and Swiss.

   #5. Experienced David Fergerson (185-G-78, agency: Interperformances, college: St.Louis, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Lugano Tigers win their game against the eighth-ranked Neuchatel (1-3) crushing them 103-77 in the Swiss LNA in Saturday night's game. Fergerson recorded 7 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. It was his first game for Lugano Tigers this season. His team are placed third in the LNA. Fergerson is a naturalized American. He used to play for Reims Champagne Basket in French league.

   #6. Sylvere Bryan (208-C-81, also represented by Interperformances, college: Tampa, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Scavolini Pesaro in their game against Banco di Sardegna Sassari in the Italian SerieA. Bryan cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 10 minutes. His team lost 90-100. Bryan has averaged so far 6.2ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.4spg in the five games. He holds both French and Italian passports.

   #7. Alfredo Ott (193-G-83, college: Dillard, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Palencia Baloncesto to win against the 11th-ranked Lleida Basquet 67-61 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Sunday night. Ott recorded only 2 points and had 3 steals. Ott has averaged so far 9.5ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.0spg. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Ott has never played in France.

   #8. Elishay Kadir (200-PF-87, agency: Avi Zilberman, currently plays in Israel) couldn't help Hapoel J-M in their game against GreenTops Netanya in the Israeli Winner League. Kadir scored only 4 points. His team was edged 77-74. He has averaged so far 4.3ppg and 3.0rpg. Kadir holds both French and Israeli passports.

Best Balikesir Basketbol Kulubu (BSL) added to their roster 23-year old French center Murat Kozan (206-93) from Muratbey Usak Sportlif Basketbol. The last season Kozan played at Bandirma Kirmizi where in 34 BSL games he had 4.9ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.1apg. He also spent pre-season at Banvit earlier that year. Kozan was also tried-out by Entente Orleans 45 (ProA) in French league. His team made it to the French La Semaine des As Cup Final Four in 2012. Jean D'Arc Vichy Clermont Metropole (ProB) agreed terms with 22-year old Ivorian center Cedric Bah (198-94) from Souffel. In 34 ProB games in France he had just 2.5ppg and 2.8rpg last season. BC Montbrison Masculins (NM2) strengthened their roster with addition of 22-year old power forward Tristan Toneguzzo (190-94). He played most recently at Union Basket Chartres Metropole in French NM1 league. NM1 was a little too high level for him, where in 23 games he recorded just 2.0ppg and 1.8rpg last season.
