Experienced former international point guard Edwige Lawson-Wade (168-PG-79) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Lattes Montp. and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8. The 33-year old playmaker had the game-high 26 points adding four assists for Lattes Montp. in her team's victory, helping them to crush Lyon (#7, 5-3) with 17-point margin 81-64. It allowed Lattes Montp. to consolidate first place in the French LFB. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is already in a full swing and Lattes Montp. still have not lost a single game, getting all 8 victories. In the team's last game Lawson-Wade had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 7 attempts. It's her second year at Lattes Montp. and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Lawson-Wade has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in assists (7th best: 4.1apg) and averages solid 51.0% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Lattes Montp.'s star - 32-year old Gabonese forward Geraldine Robert (183-F-80). Robert impressed basketball fans with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Of course together with Lawson-Wade she helped Lattes Montp. with another comfortable win 81-64 over the lower-ranked Lyon (#7, 5-3) being unquestionably team leader. Of course Lattes Montp. still keep the league's top spot. She plays for the best team in the league and Lattes Montp. managed to win all 8 games keeping perfect record. Robert is a newcomer at Lattes Montp. and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.9ppg (#4). She also registered 7.3 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was American Dawn Evans (170-PG-89, agency: LBM Management) of Arras (#13). Evans scored 15 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Evans' great performance Arras lost 47-68 to the higher-ranked Tarbes (2-6). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Arras can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Evans she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Evans has a very solid season. In 8 games in France she scored 8.5ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Bintou Dieme (164-PG-84) of Villeneuve - 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists 5. Adrijana Knezevic (185-F-87) of Toulouse - 22 points and 7 rebounds 6. The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
