Sean May claims French ProA weekly honour - Nov 13, 2012

American Sean May (206-F-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for Paris-Levallois and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 28-year old forward had the game-high 25 points adding seven rebounds and two assists for Paris-Levallois in his team's victory, helping them to beat Limoges (#13, 2-4) 84-74. Paris-Levallois is placed at 4th position in French ProA. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Paris-Levallois will need more victories to improve their 4-2 record. May turned to be Paris-Levallois' top player in his first season with the team. University of North Carolina graduate has very impressive stats this year. May is league's best scorer averaging so far 21.0ppg. May is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 6.8rpg) and averages solid 65.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 29-year old American forward Shelden Williams (206-F-83) of Chalon. Williams impressed basketball fans with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Chalon lost that game 69-77 to the lower-ranked Boulazac (#8, 3-3). This loss caused Chalon to drop to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 4-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Williams is a newcomer at Chalon and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was former international center Alexis Ajinca (215-C-88, agency: Priority Sports) of Strasbourg (#3). Ajinca scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Despite Ajinca's great performance Strasbourg lost 70-80 to the lower-ranked Poitiers (#11, 2-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Strasbourg needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Ajinca has a great season in France. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.5ppg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Bernard King (196-G-81) of Le Havre - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Edwin Jackson (191-G-89) of ASVEL - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists
6. Amara Sy (202-F-81) of ASVEL - 19 points and 9 rebounds
7. Uche Nsonwu-Amadi (208-F/C-78) of ASVEL - 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Karim Souchu (198-F-79) of Cholet - 22 points and 7 rebounds
9. Nobel Boungou Colo (202-F-88) of Limoges - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Lamine Kante (200-SF-87) of Poitiers - 20 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

French ProB round 24 best performance: Ryan Rhoomes - 1 day ago
American Center Ryan Rhoomes (203-C-92) had a great game in the last round for St Quentin, receiving a Eurobasket.com ProB Player of the Week award for round 24. The 24-year old player had a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat St Chamond (#14, 10-14) 77-69. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. St Quentin is placed at 13th position in French ProB. St Quentin is a typical solid league team placed...   [read more]

French NM1 round 30 best performance: Ovidijus Varanauskas - 1 day ago
Lithuanian Point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-PG-91) had a very impressive game in the last round for Gries/Oberhoffen, receiving a Eurobasket.com NM1 Player of the Week award for round 30. The 25-year old player was the main contributor (24 points, seven rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat SAP Vaucluse (#13, 13-17) 98-87. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Gries/Oberhoffen maintain...   [read more]

ProB Round 24: #1 JL Bourg is defeated by SO Maritime Boulogne - 2 days ago
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked JL Bourg (17-7) in Boulogne-sur-Mer on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by seventeenth ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (9-15) 86-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of JL Bourg. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-19. But JL Bourg won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Americ...   [read more]
