Canadian Katherine Plouffe (190-F-92) had a great game in the last round for Nantes and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14. The 24-year old forward had a double-double of 19 points and fourteen rebounds, while her team beat Mondeville (#6, 7-7) 64-55. Nantes maintains the 8th position in French LFB. Nantes is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-8 record. In the team's last game Plouffe had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. It's her second year at Nantes and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Marquette University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Plouffe is in league's top in points (2nd best: 18.1ppg) and averages solid 56.7% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 29-year old German forward Romy Baer (187-F-87) of Nice. Baer impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 11 assists. Bad luck as Nice was edged by slightly lower-ranked Hainaut (#9, 5-8) 77-75. Nice managed to keep the same 7th spot in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 7-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Baer is well-known by Nice fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was American Lauren Ervin (191-F-85, agency: Two Points) of Lyon (#11). Ervin showcased her all-around game by recording 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the last round. Despite Ervin's great performance Lyon lost 62-77 to the higher-ranked Flammes (#1, 11-3). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Lyon can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-11 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Ervin she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Ervin has individually a great season in France. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.3rpg (7th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Kayla Alexander (193-C-91) of Bourges - 16 points and 15 rebounds 5. Amel Bouderra (160-G-89) of Flammes - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists 6. Alina Iagupova (186-G/F-92) of Villeneuve - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Margret Skuballa (186-SF-87) of Nantes - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Marie Mbuyamba (184-F-93) of Hainaut - 19 points and 6 rebounds 9. Victoria Macaulay (193-F/C-90) of Nice - 21 points and 6 rebounds 10. Adja Konteh (178-G-92) of Tarbes - 24 points and 2 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
