American-Montenegrin Brion Rush (186-G-84, agency: Beo Basket) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Chalon and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. The 28-year old guard had the game-high 30 points adding two rebounds and five assists for Chalon in his team's victory, helping them to beat Paris-Levallois (#4, 5-4) 91-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Chalon to jump to the first place in the French ProA. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Chalon has a very solid 7-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Rush had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be Chalon's top player in his first season with the team. Brion Rush averages this season 14.0ppg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American guard Anthony Smith (196-G-86) of Poitiers. Smith impressed basketball fans with 26 points and 5 rebounds. It was enough for Poitiers to edge the higher-ranked ASVEL (#7, 5-4) by 6 points 78-72. This victory allowed Poitiers to move up to 10th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-5 record. Smith is a newcomer at Poitiers and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was American Sean May (206-F-84) of Paris-Levallois (#4). May showcased his all-around game by recording 21 points, ten rebounds and four assists in the last round. Despite May's great performance Paris-Levallois lost 79-91 to #1 ranked Chalon. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Paris-Levallois needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 5 victories and 4 lost games. May has a great season in France. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.6ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 7.7rpg (5th best).
