The most important game in the last round took place in Blois between third ranked Cognac (8-3) and sixth ranked Blois (7-3) on Tuesday night. Cognac was defeated by Blois on the road 96-80. The game was mostly controlled by Blois. Cognac managed to win second period 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Cognac 38-22 including a 23-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Blois looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Cognac's players. 28 personal fouls committed by Cognac helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Finnish forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds. American forward Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) chipped in 18 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Sadio Doucoure (195-92) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds. Blois moved-up to fifth place. Cognac at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Quimper and Souffel. Blois are looking forward to face Saint Chamond (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cognac will play against Angers BC 49 (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Orchies. First ranked Orchesien BC faced second-best Souffelweyersheim. Host Orchesien BC (9-1) defeated guests from Souffel. (8-3) 80-64. It was a good game for Serbian power forward Djordje Petrovic (204-84) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Emilien Barbry contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Orchesien BC's coach Philippe Namyst allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Senegalese power forward Abdoulaye N'Diaye (210-84, college: USC) replied with 20 points and 6 rebounds for Souffelweyersheim. Orchesien BC have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Souffelweyersheim at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Cognac and Quimper. Orchesien BC will play against Quimper UJAP (#4) on the road in the next round. Souffelweyersheim will play against Monaco and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The best for the losing side was Damien Inglis with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Chartres have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Angers BC 49. Loser CFBB still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Chartres will meet higher ranked La Rochelle (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CFBB will play against Union Rennes (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Rest of the games of round 12 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
La Rochelle was defeated by Sorgues in a road game 88-77. Challans was beaten by Quimper at home 85-94. St Chamond lost to Monaco on the opponent's court 74-88. Angers BC 49 unfortunately lost to Rueil in a home game 71-78.



Sorgues - La Rochelle 88-77

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked La Rochelle's (5-6) road loss to seventh ranked Sorgues (6-4) 77-88 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-77. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Arnaud Thinon (178-87) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists and swingman Waly Gueye (191-89) who added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Jarryd Cole (204-88, college: Iowa) with 31 points and 7 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and guard Faycal Sahraoui (188-79) scored 12 points. Five Sorgues and four La Rochelle players scored in double figures. Sorgues have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 6-4 record. Newly promoted La Rochelle keeps the eighth place with six games lost. They share the position with Rueil. Sorgues will meet higher ranked JA Vichy (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. La Rochelle will play against Chartres and hope to secure a win.

Bottom-ranked CFBB (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-54 loss to twelfth ranked Chartres (4-6) in Chartres on Tuesday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 33-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish point guard Carlos Cherry (184-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 assists and Nigerian forward Corey Raji (198-88, college: Boston Coll., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who added 26 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Johan Rathieuville (177-85) with 11 points and 6 assists and Bosnian-Canadian forward Boris Bakovic (201-88, agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Vendee Challans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quimper UJAP have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Cognac and Souffel. Loser Vendee Challans dropped to the fourteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with St Chamond. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-74. Monaco forced 20 Saint Chamond turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian-Bosnian center Nemanja Calasan (205-85, college: Purdue) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds and guard Anthony Christophe (190-83) who added 13 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Rueil (5-6) beat on the road 9th ranked Angers BC 49 (4-6) 78-71 on Tuesday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 35-17. But Angers BC 49 won second period 18-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Rueil won last quarter 19-14. Rueil shot 26 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Angers BC 49 only scored ten points from the stripe. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (178-87) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 4 assists and Serbian forward Slobodan Ocokoljic (204-80, college: Weber St., agency: TSS Management) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) with 22 points and 8 rebounds and forward SyPir Traore (204-85) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Rueil moved-up to eighth place, which they share with La Rochelle. Angers BC 49 lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Chartres. Rueil will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Angers BC 49 will play against Cognac (#3) and hope to secure a win.
