We bring you last week's top performances from French who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Tony Parker (188-82, currently plays in NBA). He led San Antonio Spurs to an overtime victory over the Memphis Grizzlies (13-3) 99-95 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Parker was MVP of the game. He scored 30 points (!!!), grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 43 minutes on the court. The San Antonio Spurs have a very good 14-4 record this season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Parker's 12th year with the team. Parker has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.1ppg, 3.1rpg, 7.1apg, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 74.5% in the 16 games he played so far. Parker is currently a member of the French senior national team.

Nicolas Batum

   #2. Second place goes to an international small forward Nicolas Batum (203-88, currently plays in NBA). He led Portland Trail Blazers to an overtime victory against the Charlotte Bobcats (7-9) 118-112 in the NBA last Monday. Batum recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 7 assists. The Portland Trail Blazers have 8-10 record this season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Batum has very high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 6.3rpg, 3.2apg, 1.1bpg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 48.8%, 3FGP: 37.6% and FT: 82.4%. Batum is in the roster of the French senior national team.

   #3. The French player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Joakim Noah (211-85, college: Florida, currently plays in NBA). He led Chicago Bulls to a victory against the Philadelphia 76ers (10-8) 93-88 in the NBA on Saturday night. Noah had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 7 assists in 41 minutes. The Chicago Bulls have 8-8 record this season. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Noah is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his sixth year in Bulls' roster. Noah has very impressive stats this season: 13.0ppg, 9.8rpg, 4.2apg, 2.3bpg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 47.3% and FT: 78.1% in the 16 games. He is a naturalized American. Noah played for the French national team one years ago. Strangely he has never played in France.

   #4. Power forward Boris Diaw (203-82, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Tony Parker. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention. Diaw, who plays in the NBA could not help the San Antonio Spurs (14-4) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his good performance the San Antonio Spurs were defeated 105-100 on the road by the Miami Heat. Diaw scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It's Diaw's first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 5.8ppg, 3.4rpg and 2.5apg. Diaw is also French national team player.

   #5. Former international power forward Adrien Moerman (203-88, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a Gescrap BB's victory against the 16th-ranked Assignia Manresa (1-9) crushing them 83-63 in the Spanish ACB last Saturday. He recorded 13 points in 21 minutes. Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (8-2) is placed second in the ACB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This year Moerman's overall stats are: 6.3ppg and 2.3rpg in the seven games. He used to play for the French national team two years ago.

   #6. Small forward Mickael Gelabale (201-83, agency: Three Eye Sports, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help Cedevita (2-6) in their game against Anadolu Efes (5-3) in the Euroleague. Despite his very good performance on Thursday night Gelabale was the second best scorer with 18 points. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Gelabale has relatively good stats this season: 14.3ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.4apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior French National Team roster.

   #7. International center Kevin Seraphin (206-89, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a Washington Wizards' victory against the Miami Heat (12-4) 105-101 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. Seraphin had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 10 rebounds in 31 minutes. The Washington Wizards have not so impressive 2-13 record this season. Seraphin has very impressive stats this year: 11.8ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.2apg in the 14 games. He is also French national team player.

   #8. Power forward Ian Mahinmi (206-86, currently plays in NBA) helped Indiana Pacers edge the Los Angeles Lakers (8-10) 79-77 in the NBA last Tuesday. Mahinmi recorded 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Indiana Pacers have 9-9 record this season. Mahinmi's total stats this year are: 4.8ppg and 3.4rpg. He used to play for the French national team last year.

   #9. Former U20 international forward Aaron Cel (203-87, currently plays in VTB United League) helped his Polish team PGE Turow edge in an overtime the seventh-ranked BC Donetsk (3-4) 83-81 in the VTB United League on Monday night. Cel had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 11 rebounds in 27 minutes. PGE Turow Zgorzelec (2-5) is placed ninth in group A. Cel is ranked fifth on the list of the best rebounders in the league with 7.4rpg. This year his other stats are: 11.9ppg in the seven games. Cel used to play for the French U20 national team five years ago.

   #10. Guard Thomas Heurtel (188-89, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his Spanish team Caja Laboral edge the fourth-ranked Armani Milano (3-5) 64-62 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. He scored 11 points and added 5 passes. Caja Laboral Vitoria (2-6) is placed sixth in group C. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Heurtel's total stats this season are: 5.6ppg, 2.9rpg and 4.0apg. He is a former U20 international player as three years ago he still played for the French national team.

   #11. International forward Florent Pietrus (202-81, currently plays in Eurocup) helped his Spanish team Valencia Basket win their game against the closely-ranked Banvit BK 84-70 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. Pietrus scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 24 minutes. This year Pietrus' total stats are: 5.2ppg and 4.6rpg in the five games. He plays currently for the French national team.

   #12. International shooting guard Fabien Causeur (193-87, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Thomas Heurtel. However that was another game of his team in Spanish ACB which brought him to that list. Causeur helped Caja Laboral edge the league outsider Lagun Aro GBC 71-69. He recorded 9 points. Causeur has averaged so far 9.0ppg and 1.9rpg. He is also in the roster of the French national team.

   #13. International point guard Rodrigue Beaubois (186-88, agency: Court Side, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Dallas Mavericks in their game against the Chicago Bulls in the NBA. Beaubois scored 6 points and added 3 assists in 24 minutes. His team were crushed by 23 points 101-78 in the NBA. Beaubois has averaged so far 4.5ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.7apg in the 10 games. He used to play for the French national team last year.

   #14. U20 international guard Leo Westermann (198-92, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Partizan in their game against Igokea in the Adriatic League. Westermann was the second best scorer with 7 points in 26 minutes. His team was crushed by 23 points 73-50. Westermann has averaged so far 8.0ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.2apg and 1.3spg in the 11 games. He plays currently for the French U20 national team.

   #15. International center Ronny Turiaf (208-83, agency: Priority Sports, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in NBA) managed to help Los Angeles Clippers to win against the Sacramento Kings crushing them 116-81 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Turiaf scored 5 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Turiaf has averaged so far 1.5ppg and 2.1rpg. He is also in the roster of the French national team.


The list of other players, who all have French passport but never been selected to any of French national teams:

   #1. Afik Nissim (186-PG-81, currently plays in Israel) contributed to a 3-point Hapoel Eilat's victory against the closely-ranked GreenTops Netanya (5-3) 68-65 in the Israeli Winner League last Monday. Nissim scored 10 points and added 9 passes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Hapoel Eilat (1-1) is placed third in the Winner League. Nissim has averaged so far 7.3ppg, 1.9rpg and 3.1apg. He has a dual citizenship: French and Israeli.

   #2. Elishay Kadir (202-PF-87, agency: Avi Zilberman, currently plays in Eurocup) led his Israeli team Hapoel J-M to a victory against the closely-ranked Rudupis (2-3) 92-79 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. Kadir scored 15 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem (2-3) is placed third in the Eurocup. His team will play only one more game in the Eurocup Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Kadir has averaged so far 8.2ppg and 4.0rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: French and Israeli.

   #3. Boris Meno (203-F-83, agency: Two Points, college: Davidson, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL could not help USK Praha (13-0) in their last game. Despite Meno's very good performance the league leader USK Praha was crushed 81-60 on the road by the lower-ranked (#4) BC Kolin. He had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 11 rebounds. Meno also added 3 blocks in 29 minutes. Meno belongs to league's top scorers (ranked #2) and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has individually a very good year with high stats. Meno averages: 18.5ppg, 10.1rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1bpg in the 14 games he played so far. He has both Congolese and French nationalities.

   #4. Kim Tillie (210-F-88, agency: Priority Sports, college: Utah, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help UCAM Murcia (24-6) in their game against Unicaja Malaga (6-4) in the Spanish ACB. Tillie recorded 7 points in 20 minutes. his team was crushed 85-58 in Malaga by the much lower-ranked (#9) Unicaja. Tillie has averaged so far 8.0ppg and 3.6rpg in the 10 games. He also holds two passports: Dutch and French.

   #5. Bandja Sy (203-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a N.Mexico St.'s surprising victory against the University of South Alabama (2-0) 58-52 in the NCAA last Tuesday. Sy recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 14 rebounds. The New Mexico State University has conference record this season. Sy has been at the team for four years. He has averaged so far 8.0ppg and 3.6rpg. Sy holds both Mali and French passports.

   #6. Jonathan Sztarkman (188-PG-91, also represented by Avi Zilberman, currently plays in Israel) helped Elitzur Yavne win their game against the seventh-ranked Ironi Nahariya crushing them 103-65 in the Israeli National League (second division) on Tuesday night. He scored 16 points and added 4 passes in 24 minutes. Sztarkman has averaged so far 7.3ppg and 1.7apg in the three games. He has French and Israeli nationalities. Despite Sztarkman's French passport, he currently plays for the Israeli U20 national team and is not eligible to play for the French team.

   #7. John Wilkins (206-G-89, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to secure a victory for the Illinois St. in their last game. Despite Wilkins' good performance the Illinois St. lost 67-81 at home to the University of Wyoming. He scored 12 points in a mere 15 minutes. Wilkins has averaged so far 7.3ppg and 1.7apg in the three games. He is a naturalized American. Apparently Wilkins has never played in France.

   #8. Mari Konate (203-F-88, college: McNeese St., currently plays in Baltic League) couldn't help Naglis Palangos in their game against Siauliai in the Baltic League. He scored 6 points. His team was crushed by 39 points 86-47. Konate has averaged so far 5.5ppg and 4.0rpg.

   #9. Experienced David Fergerson (185-G-78, agency: Interperformances, college: St.Louis, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Lugano Tigers win their n overtime game against the league outsider Starwings 89-79 in the Swiss LNA in Sunday night's game. He scored 7 points in 25 minutes. Fergerson has averaged so far 6.8ppg, 1.2rpg, 2.3apg and 1.3spg in the six games. He is a naturalized American. Fergerson used to play for Reims Champagne Basket in French league.

   #10. Sylvere Bryan (208-C-81, another player represented by Interperformances, college: Tampa, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help VL Pesaro in their game against SAIE3 BO in the Italian SerieA. He recorded only 4 points. His team was badly defeated by 18 points 76-58. Bryan has averaged so far 3.7ppg and 3.6rpg. He holds both French and Italian passports.

BC Boncourt Red Team (LNA) added to their roster 21-year old forward Amir Savon (201-89kg-96, college: Mississippi Valley State) from BC Winterthur. In 24 LNA games in Switzerland he recorded 4.7ppg and 4.0rpg last season. The previous (15-16) season Savon played at 5 STELLE SAM Basket Massagno. But in 6 LNA games he averaged just 1.0ppg. He has played previously for two other teams: Bern and Rising Stars. Savon attended Mississippi Valley State until 2016 and it will be his second season...   [read more]

ES Chalon-Sur-Saone (ProA) signed 25-year old American point guard Adam Smith (185-77kg-92, college: Georgia Tech). He played last season at Mec-Energy Roseto in Italian Serie A2. Golbey Espinal Thaon Vosges (NM1) tabbed 25-year old swingman Cyril Scherrens (197-92). He has played for the last two years at CS Gravenchon Basket in the NM2. Scherrens helped his team to make it to the U21 Championships (Trophee du Futur) Final in 2013. He has played previously for three other teams: Gravelines Dunkerque, Ardres and Lisieux.
