Marquis' double-double lands him Player of the Week award - Dec 27, 2012

Tony Wroten
32-year old power forward Claude Marquis (204-F/C-80) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nancy and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 13.
He had a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Paris-Levallois (#2, 8-5) 89-84. Nancy is placed at 7th position in French league. Nancy is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-7 record. Marquis turned to be Nancy's top player in his first season with the team. Claude Marquis averages this season 14.8ppg and 9.0rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Sean May (206-F-84) of league's second-best Paris-Levallois. He is American forward in his first season at Paris-Levallois. In the last game May recorded impressive 27 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Paris-Levallois lost that game 84-89 to the lower-ranked Nancy (#7, 6-7). Paris-Levallois managed to keep the same second spot in the standings. His team's 8-5 record is not bad at all. May is a newcomer at Paris-Levallois and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.8ppg (#1). He also registered 7.2 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Nancy's star - forward Marcellus Sommerville (200-F-82). Sommerville scored 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was another key player of Nancy, helping his team with a 89-84 win against the higher-ranked Paris-Levallois (#2, 8-5). The chances of Nancy ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 7 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Sommerville could help Nancy to bring them higher in the standings. Sommerville has a great season in France. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.2ppg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Coleman Collins (206-C/F-86) of Roanne - 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Ricardo Greer (197-F/G-78) of Strasbourg - 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Matt Howard (203-PF-89) of Roanne - 13 points and 12 rebounds
7. Victor Samnick (203-F/C-79) of Roanne - 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Yannick Bokolo (188-SG-85) of Gravelines - 7 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists
9. Alexis Ajinca (215-C-88) of Strasbourg - 14 points and 10 rebounds
10. Torrell Martin (196-G/F-85) of Nancy - 21 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Grismay Paumier claims French ProB weekly honour - 17 hours ago
Cuban Grismay Paumier (204-C/F-88) had a great game in the last round for Boulogne and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com ProB Player of the Week award for round 19.
