Charles Jackson claims French ProB weekly honour - Jan 13, 2013

Charles
Jackson
American Charles Jackson (203-F-87, agency: Court Side) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Pau-Lacq-Orthez and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com ProB Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 25-year old forward had the game-high 21 points adding four rebounds for Pau-Lacq-Orthez in his team's victory, helping them to beat Charleville (#17, 5-13) 85-79. It allowed Pau-Lacq-Orthez to consolidate first place in the French ProB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Pau-Lacq-Orthez has a very solid 14-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Jackson turned to be Pau-Lacq-Orthez's top player in his first season with the team. Hawaii-Pacific University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jackson is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 8.7rpg) and averages solid 64.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 36-year old Serbian center Dragan Ceranic (212-C-76, agency: Beo Basket) of Bordeaux. Ceranic impressed basketball fans with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Bordeaux was edged by the higher-ranked Nantes (#12, 7-11) 89-85. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Bordeaux is still at the dead bottom 18th position. 16 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Bordeaux managed to get this year. Ceranic is a newcomer at Bordeaux and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was Mickael Var (205-F/C-90) of Boulogne (#6). Var scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Boulogne, leading his team to a 104-87 easy win against the lower-ranked Denain (#16, 5-13). Boulogne needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 6 lost games. Var has a very solid season. In 18 games in France he scored 8.3ppg. He also has 4.4rpg and FGP: 56.8%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Julien Lesieu (201-C/F-83) of St Quentin - 20 points and 13 rebounds
5. Tai Wesley (200-F-86) of Rouen - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Errick Craven (188-G-83) of St Vallier - 24 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Steeve Ho You Fat (203-PF-88) of Evreux - 19 points and 12 rebounds
8. Jeremiah Wood (200-C/F-85) of Evreux - 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Tim Blue (205-F-84) of Antibes - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Steve Smith (200-PF-81) of Lille - 23 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
